Le Sigh: I dislike getting old

One thing about getting old that sucks is that your body gets old too. Wait. That sounds weird. Of course your body gets old. Whatever. Anyways, I hate the side-effects of getting old.

Achy body parts, weird random headaches, forgetfulness, dizziness... you name it. I hate it. My mind maybe like in my late teens/early 20s, but not my body. It feels like it just hit 50 years old & getting ran over by a bunch of bulls. Lame.

Even though I'm a nurse, I work for Western Medicine, I actually don't like using Western Medicine for my own body. I'm more of the Alternative/Holistic kinda girl. I try to avoid medication as much as possible unless necessary. What sucks is that I have chronic back pain due to a back condition. I tend to pop them NSAIDs whenever it bothers me. I've been good on reducing taking those pills and opted for a heating pack instead. I love those ThermaCare 8 hr heating pack. Life savers, I say. My BFF during painful times.

Anyways, last week, I woke up with a sore & stiff neck. I was thinking if it was my pillow or my posture when I sleep. Or maybe I unintentionally injured myself at work without knowing. I don't know and it bothered me. So, I made an appointment with a Chiropractor who practices Acupuncture too.

I've never been adjusted by a Chiro, so I was pretty nervous. This is my face before being adjusted.

Can't you see the fear in my face?

But my oh my oh my. I felt so good after the doc adjusted my spine. Not only that, a massage therapist worked on this damn knot on my shoulder before I got adjusted. Oh the pain was worth it. I don't know if it's a psychological thing, but I felt so relieved when I heard this popping noises she made from my spine. I crack my knuckles like no other & "feel"relieved after I do so, hence I was all smiles after being adjusted. I was like, "Hot damn!"

Then acupuncture came. Needles. Yes, lots of needles on my back. Honestly I was nervous. But seriously it was not bad at all. It felt like quick pinches as she tapped those needles to my neck, shoulder and lower back. Not only that, she connected the needles to electrodes... pretty much like this...

It felt like twitches to the areas that were connected. Weird but okay. That session was about 20 minutes. I think I drooled at minute 17.

I felt a lot better after my first session. The doctor taught me some basic stretches to do and I've been doing them through out time, to ease of the tensions on my neck & shoulder. I scheduled another Acupuncture session again. Can't wait. Not cheap, but I'm giving it another try.

Surprisingly this office also offers cupping. Meaning this...
My cousin did this and his back looked so gross. But he said he felt good. The inner hippie in me wants to try it though. But no sexy back for awhile, hehe.

How about you? Have you ever tried any alternative treatment?

Rima

Le Sigh

Good Lord. Yesterday was one of the roughest Mondays ever. I pretty much worked from 730AM til 1150PM. I'm on call, so I had to stay over to finished a case, and I didn't get out til 730PM. Not to find out, right when I got to my driveway at 8PM, to get called back in for a Trauma case. OMG. I was like zombiefest. Thanks to the adrenaline rush, I was able to get thru the case, but once I dropped the patient off to the OR suite, I wanted to pass out. My legs were like total jello. I got home after midnight and passed out on my bed, without showering. Yes. Patients's funk I bring to bed.

Then I woke up at 6AM (damn biological/circadian clock) to a stuffy nose. When I'm too fatigued, my body just go cray and I have like flu-like symptoms for a couple of hours. Great.

One great thing is that I got my Bunny onesie in the mail yesterday (when werk called me in) and I got to try it this morning.

Dad: *stink face* "You and your bunnies... Since you were a little girl..."

Thanks Dad. I told him that I remember when I was 3, he asked me what do I want to be when I grow up, and I said, "BUNNY!" His now reaction: stink face.

In the mean time, let's enjoy the face of my Sister's baby, Kuma-Chan aka Adam, wearing his Xmas gift from Uncle Kuma-San aka Uncle Pillow that he got from Indonesia (what Adam is wearing is a traditional Javanese hat called blankon. Homeboy is 1/2 Javanese).

I haven't seen this kid since September. I'm going thru withdrawals.

I need to bite them cheeks.

Thank God for a day off. Baking time!

November's Goal and Le Sigh

goals n schtuff

Well well well... Look where we at right now? The Eve of a New Month. Crazy.

But first things first.

2 things are bothering my mind right now.
  1. The Aftermath of Super Storm Sandy. Seeing images of New York City & New Jersey getting me really sad. I think about the people who don't have the basic necessities right now and picturing the cold piercing their bones. The pets that are separated from their fur-parents, all cold and scared in a safe cage. Gives me the chills. Like seriously, if only my department aren't so short staffed, I would hop on a plane and volunteer my time. Keep them in your prayers... And if possible, DONATE. Red Cross is legit.
  2. Cyber Bulling. So one of my favorite blogger is being attack by Ms/Mr Anon on her blog over her recent Halloween costume. Sure. You may find it offensive, especially to the LGBT community. I get it. We all have feelings. We all want to be treated equally. I fuckin' get it. Who knows what her intention was as most of us don't know her personally. When I saw it the first time, I was like, "Haha... She looks like a dude." I went bypass the whole pulling-off-to-be-a-butch-lesbian. I fuckin' get it. It's offensive. BUT it's not right for them to insult her, bully her, call her BIGOT, saying that she's sexist/racist/whatever. Maybe a nice comment saying "yo, your costume is not cool, yo" and leave it that way. But for those haters out there to just constantly leaving nasty and mean comments to the point where I see it as Cyber Bullying, that's so not cool. You want equality and to be treated fairly, but if you're seeing other people who may have an opposite opinion than you and calling them names, then shit. Go away. Leave her alone. It's her blog. Freedom to express self. If you don't agree with me, then fine. Unfollow me and I don't care. I don't blog for you. I blog for myself. And don't you dare think you're holy enough to judge me based on my opinions. Don't play God if you can't act like One.
If God’s the game that you’re playing
Well we must get more acquainted
Because it has to be so lonely
To be the only one that’s holy
It’s just my humble opinion
But it’s one that I believe in
You don’t deserve a point of view
If the only thing you see is you - Paramore
Nuff said. I just had to Poop number 2 out.

Anywaysssss... Since November is like knocking at my door, let's recap my October goals and see if I succeed. Rawr.

1. Do a Complete Health Exam - I got 1/2 of that done. I did my GYN exam yesterday. Yes. That deserves a 0.5 point. Hah
2. Get a new tattoo - Failed. 0 point. The time wasn't right and I was going back and forth on what and location of this new tattoo. I've finally got what I want, and still trying to find the right spot.
3. Make Pizza from Scratch - 1 point. I DID IT!!! It was great.

It came out more like a thin crust. I loved the Cast Iron Skillet method because that turned out the greatest. I can't wait to try it again.

4. Yoga - 10 day challenge - Major Fail. 0 point. I didn't have this in my head at all during October. Super sad. And what's makes it worse, I know I need to do it. SAD.
5. Continue Juicing Religiously - I would give myself 0.5 points. I do it at least 3-4 times a week, but for me it's still not routine enough. I have days where I'm tired coming home from work, and all I can think of is where's the food.

Total points: 2 points. Hahahaha.

Now on to November

1. Still continue to Juice - nuff said.
2. Purchase a new Coat - man, it's been awhile for me to get a new coat. I lust over the ones in Shabby Apple and Modcloth. I may purchase one from either store. Oh no.
3. Learn how to make Japanese Hokkaido Milk Bread - Growing up in Asia, I was sooo used to the soft texture of their breads. Way better than the Western bread. Mm... soft bread.
4. Clean Robert's Apt - homeboy has been SOOOOO busy (he often puts 14 hours a day, Mon - Fri and school on top of that) these past months, he has been neglecting the cleanliness of his casa. I'm so gonna clean that place when he's in Shanghai.
5. Learn how to make a Decent Apple Pie - I haven't ventured out to the world of pies, so this would be another challenge. I'm not a big pie fan. I only eat Apple or Blueberry pies.

So what about you guys? Any goals for November?
PS: giveaway still going :)

Le Sigh

I hate spending my Saturday nights alone. I'm so used to having the Pillow next to me. You know, just to keep me company. He arrives tonight from New Jersey and I really can't wait to see him. I hope he does fulfill my wish by driving here tonight so I can snuggle/cuddle my night away with him and Chimmy. I know Chimmy misses him too.

Meanwhile as I wait, I'm probably just gonna pop in my favorite movie, Amelie. The whole thing about the movie, I love. From the colors, the story line *swoon*, the soundtrack, of course Audrey Tautou. Adore. One reason why I would love to visit Paris.

....

Thank God. Rob arrived safely to John Wayne and is taking a cab back to the apartment. Now he's gonna drive all the way to see me. Such a trooper.

Hope you all have a great night.

Rima

Le Sigh

  • while father is playing Elvis on youtube *le sigh*, i painted my left hand and it looks like shit. i can't not make it pretty :( yet i'm too lazy to wipe it off. ha ha ha.
  • i'm missing the good college days. i played paramore all day and missed the days where i used to randomly streak bleach parts of my hair.  i was tempted today to do it again, and dye it orange or such color. haha... classy, eh?
  • which, right now i'm creating a playlist of all the emo/punk/ska playlist that i used to listen in college on Spotify. OMG memories. Crazy.
  • i was missing NYC suddenly today and made my version of Artichoke Spinach Pizza. I tweeted about how i miss Artichoke Basille's Pizza, and they retweeted me back. Holla.

YUMMMMMMMMMM
how sweet is this?
  • facetiming with the Pillow, who's in Tucson, AZ, was a win-lose situation (win: i get to see his face; lose: made me miss him more). He was semi-buzz hence the sleepy face. He ain't gonna like this post of his sleepy face. he he he.

  • i spent $300 for chimmy's deep teeth cleaning *MAJOR LE SIGH* he looked so stoned today after i picked him up. super cute. and a bald patch to one of his front paw for the IV.

  • oh and here's the purse that i bought. yay for Marc Jacobs. nay for my poor wallet. but, this was a major bargain. tee hee

btw, I'm a featured Sponsor (yay) at Rachel's Lala Lists :) Go and check it out :) i'm super awesome!!

Friday's Letters and Sigh.

This is a Combo Entry. My mood is very foul.

  • Dear Friday... Thanks for stopping by. We've been all waiting for you.
  • Dear Weather... Why are you still weird??? Rain hard then Sunny Hard? This ain't no Hard Party, mkay...
  • Dear Upcoming Baby Shower Cupcakes... Let's do this. This will be awesome.
  • Dear Labor Day weekend... let's make it super awesome. Let's make sure Ms. Weather doesn't have the cramps and ruin my Cliff Jumping experience by being mad and raining and screaming her thunders up. I don't want to get electrocuted while I'm doing my awesome jump. No Bueno.
  • Dear Mother... Please stop harassing me about my need to get a new designer purse! Instead of saying "hello how are you how's work", you yelled, "I don't care Rima, you need to get a new designer purse!" In my head, "WTF!?!?!?! That's how you show love? *SMH*" In return I told you that I know but I have other priorities than a damn designer purse (HELLO Marc Jacobs and Gwen Stefani, please send some cool purses? I love you!) such as, uh, saving up for a wedding? If it wasn't for the expectations of throwing a damn party for people, I would just freakin elope *rant mode: ON* but I love y'all too much.
  • Dear Pillow, *no shame* please help me and propose? KEE-DEENG.
  • Dear Chimmy... I find it very funny that you would wait in front of the backyard window door every night at 9 and wait for the possum to pass by and bark like you're possessed. THE SUCKER CAN'T HEAR YOU! CHILL THE CRAP OUT!
  • Dear Readers, my BFF Gaby (the girl that was with me in NYC) just started blogging. Awww... New Girl, so cute. Show her some love. This girl is very, very smart and witty. She totally acts 10 years more her age. She needs help on html/layouts/templates, so for you techy savvy girls out there... help her out :) She's musically talented (her album is on iTunes), just graduated from College with a degree that involves knowing the human brain, and is just interestingly weird (she likes controversies and sarcasms). Say hello to her.
  • Dear Period. Go away. You are so not needed right now.
  • Dear Future Sponsors, Thank You. If any of you are willing to support me by being a Super Bunny, I would love you long time. In a way, you are helping with my (wishful) wedding fund. Haha.
  • Oh and Dear Readers, again, the giveaway will be done soon. JOIN, won't you?

*sigh*

welcome to *sigh*

this is a new segment... where... I *sigh*. JK.

If you know me well (hello, Pillow!), you would probably think I complain too much. But I (self-proclaim) complain nicely. Unless you really tick my socks. No bueno, mi amigo. Pretty much this segment will be about my current complaints and rants and craziness. (Alex, in a way, your last comment inspired me to do this. Hollaaaa)

Like seriously, nobody's perfect. My blog can't be perfect. My life ain't perfect either. There's no way my blog will be all happy happy joy joy. There will be occasionally (or maybe often? no?) post about things that make me go

(o_O)  --> WTH? face

or go (v__v)  --> "daaaaaaannnnkkk" face

or go ( '__')  --> "say what" face

or go (-__-) --> "shame on you" face

you know what i mean? I realized I blog mainly for myself. To express my inner thoughts and feelings out loud (sorry, Pillow... oh you Mr. Private you) and to help me sort out my thought process (and maybe with the help of y'all readers, no?). It's like an open diary... with feedbacks. Hehe.

Yes I love doing link-ups and blog hops and such, but mainly that's not my sole purpose of blogging. I'm blogging for me. (hello, Rima... dya get it now?)

If my blog entertains you, thank you berry much. Please keep following me, please? I'll mail you a cookie.

If my blog bores you, thank you anyways. Thanks at least for poppin by and say holla.

If you're Chimichanga, please shut up. Your barking at 11:36 PM is annoying. Shut up, will ya?

If you have an emergency, please call 911

If you're my brother, please give me my $100 back. I need it. New York City needs it.

If you're my stomach, can you please shut the hell up and stay quiet through the night? Your growling annoys me. And stop giving me hunger pain #lifeofafatty
