wham bam kazaam! It's time to Link Up with my Bloggie Soul Sista, Evani, for our monthly Let's Get Physical.
For this month I know it's gonna be a little challenging due to the fact that I'll be in FoodPorn Land in Barcelona & Paris. Good thing I have a boyfriend who likes to work out (even though he's chubby! he works out to eat).
Then, I thought about my co-worker. He's struggling with his weight. He noticed that he gets tired & sluggish right after lunch. Then we checked his blood sugar one day after lunch to find out it wasn't in a pretty number. It was a wake up call for him. One day he injured himself while playing with his sons and missed work for about 3 weeks. Finally he came back and we noticed something different. He lost weight. I was proud of him and amazed. And all he said, "Portion Control, girl."
And it made me think. I can eat anything I want and love, as long as I can control it's portion. Sometimes my emotions and greed kick in and I don't care what I put in my mouth. I suffer later. So now when I think about eating, I will think about control my portion.
So when I'm in Spain & France, I will try to portion my meals... Esp snacking. Gah.
Let's do this, girls!
Wanna join? Come on!

Portion control is one of my problems as well. I eat until I'm full. I used to eat until the plate was clean, but have finally learned it's okay to leave food on my plate. That would be easier of course if I just used portion control when making my plate.
ReplyDeleteI think the massive amounts of walking will help with all the goodies you'll eat while in Europe. Don't they eat better in Europe than we do here in America anyway? ;)
Portion control is so hard for me so I've learned to gravitate towards pre-portioned meals (i.e. a packet of oatmeal). I blame it on biological instinct but someday I hope to be able to control myself when a massive meals is placed in front of me!
ReplyDeletePortion control is such a big part of it! I'd be scared to check my blood sugar after eating, I had a feeling it wouldn't be a pretty number. I think you'll be doing so much walking on your trip, you won't have to worry too much about the amazing things you'll eat!! <3 Thanks for linkin up soul sistaaaaa
ReplyDeleteI was great at portion control (with a few exceptions) until I got married-- my husband's ideas of a proper serving are completely off! You will definitely walk off those calories in Paris, when I was on vacation I didn't gain any weight even with those lovely French breads, cheeses and pastries! It's only 10 days, it's Europe, enjoy yourself!
ReplyDeleteSplurge on your vacation! Plus I don't think they serve meals like they do here in the states. Here, it's a giant filled to the brim plates. I think you'll be alright and if anything, just share with the pillow.
ReplyDeletethat is one big problem of mine, i just see something I like and I want to eat the whole thing!
