Chimmy's Corner

Ruff Ruff (Hello Hello). FurBall Stinky Butt, aka Chimmy, here to share you 3 amazing, tears-in-your-eyes videos. You have been warned.

First, is a pretty sad video. It's a Mama Dolphin in Dana Point who mourned the death of her calf :( She carried her calf on her dorsal fin and continued to swim. Not only that, she was guarded by other dolphins as she mourns. It's like a Funeral was in process. May Mama Dolphin find her peace.

*grabs tissue*

Second is a video of Mama Cow, Karma, who was saved by the nice people of Gentle Barn. At first they were confuse on why Karma kept on crying and crying... to find out that they saved Karma, but left her baby calf behind. Being the awesome them, they manage to save her calf, who was in shock and in hunger, collapse as he/she was brought next to Karma. Baby Calf immediately went to Karma and drank her milk.

*blows nose, grabs more tissue, and rolls around the carpet*

Third is a story of 2 elephants, Shirley and Jenny, who were brought to America as Circus Elephants, but then got separated... and got reunited after 22 years. It was soo sad to see Shirley's caretaker saying goodbye, but also glad that he's relieved that Shirley will never be in chains anymore.

Bonus point.

Remember when Japan got hit with the mad Tsunami? A lot of people affected were separated with their furry friends. Luckily for my brother here, he was saved (God bless you all rescuers) and was reunited with his Mama. His face tells it all on how happy he was.

*wags tail*

So all 4 videos have one thing in common.

Animals HAVE EMOTIONS.

From happy to sad to mourning to sympathy to fear & stress... THEY HAVE FEELINGS.

Not only that... They can sense your emotions too! If Mother is mad, I can sense the stress she has, so I try not to bark as much... (Mother: LIAR!!!!). If Mother is not feeling well or when she's sad, I sit next to her and give her lots of kisses... and try to act cute... (Mother: Aw so true!).

Us animals were created to be your friend. Not your enemy. So please be kind to us. Animal Abuse is not acceptable.

With that being said, please spay and neuter your pet. Because that's what Bob Barker said. Oh and get microchipped. I did it and I feel safe :)

Now excuse me as I piss of Mother by peeing on her Macbook cables.

Mini-Series: Panoramas

I'm still in Panorama mode, as you can tell. I'm still working on my photo book (I'm slacking! It takes a lot of energy and time to make it perfect!!!) so the actual pictorial posts for my trip will come... soon.

I really love the Panorama feature of the iPhone. Seriously, y'all should try it.

Mini-Series: The Panoramic Pillow

And you're like, WTF?

So during the vacation, the boyfriend and I decided to create a series. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably would know what "my" series is. Stay tune for that one, non-followers.

I would like to share you this series: The Panoramic Pillow.

A little FYI: I call my beau, the Pillow. He's fluffy and comfy like that... TO LAY ON. Anyways, I'm an iPhone girl. And you probably know about the Panorama feature that the iPhone has... Get it now?

Be prepare for some Multiple Pillow-ness.

Beau, sorry. I just had to share our awesomeness. He's a private man, you know ;)

Food Time: Strawberry Jam filled Madeleines

As you may know, I'm still have the  Parisian/French bug in me. All I think is about the Eiffel Tower, eating croissants and sipping on some coffee.

Seriously.

As you may know (again), that I'm a fan of the uberly cute Rachel Khoo. Of course I have her book. Of course I've seen the episode where she made Madeleines.

The recipe is easy to make. In the video above she uses fresh raspberries and lemon curd. Nom. I didn't have any of those two in hand, so I opted to use my favorite jam (again, my Airbnb host got me addicted to this!) from France, Bonne Maman.

And this Preserve is delicious. Not too sweet with a little tang. Yum. I ate some this morning over toast and chocolate butter. Yes, chocolate butter... all the way from Wisconsin. Double yum.

The sweet Evani, as part of the hellobox, sent me a Madeleine pan. I was sooo happy. Funny thing was the day prior receiving her package, I bought one pan myself. And I used both today and honestly, Evani's was way better. The madeleines just slided off the pan!

The pan from Evani :)

I was sooo happy on how it turned out. And as Rachel said, it's wayyy better to eat it straight out of the oven. It's sooo soft, the hint of lemon from the cookie smells so good, especially with the strawberry jam combined.

You can fill it with pretty much anything you want (Nutella?) or have them covered or dipped in chocolate ganache. Oh my.

Strawberry Jam Madeleines
you get about 22 - 24 madeleines
adapted from Rachel Khoo, The Little Paris Kitchen

  • 3 eggs, room temperature
  • 2/3 cup of Sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 1/2 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 cup of full fat milk
  • 13 tbsp butter, melted and cooled
  • Jam for filling or if you prefer to dip them in chocolate :)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
Whisk/Beat eggs and sugar until pale and frothy. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and lemon zest. Mix honey and milk into the cooled butter then whisk in to the eggs. With a spatula, fold in the flour-mix in 2 batches. Covered with saran wrap and let it rest in the fridge. I did for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven at 375F. Get your Madeleine pan and butter and flour dust. Spoon about 1 tbsp into each hole. Then spoon about 1/2 tsp of your filling in the middle of the madeleine batter. Don't overfill. Bake for 5 minutes. Turn off your oven and let rest for a minute or so. Then turn oven on to 325F and bake for another 5 minutes.

Remove from oven and transfer those luscious cookies on to a cooling rack. Once cool, dust them with powdered sugar and eat with a cup of tea :) Mmm Earl Grey Tea.

I love Vanilla. So probably next time I'll add like a teaspoon of Vanilla Extract. Ooooooooo... Or maybe substitute 1/3 cup of sugar with Lavender Vanilla Sugar... OOOOOOOOOOO. It's on, people.

Head on to your kitchen and make these yummy treat :)

floured face,
Rima

Let's do a (mini) Recap...

Honestly, I still have the blues. I'm hesitant to look through my vacation pictures because I know I'm missing Barcelona & Paris like for reals. I was just thinking while sitting on my toilet (yes I do that often, people) and remembered 2 weeks ago I was heading to LAX to catch a flight to Munich. Ah, Munich. It was a nice 5 hours layover. Followed by the energetic yet slow paced Barcelona. People there are friendly and just living life with minimal stress-level (based on my observation). They're love for football is amazing, I was hypnotized by their adoration and love for their local (yet globally famous) FC Barcelona. Their beautiful cathedrals and amazing foods are worth my tired legs. Then the infamous City of Lights/Love, Paris, followed after. Despite the cold cold Spring Winter-like weather, I enjoyed Paris a lot. From all the infamous landmarks to their interesting dishes, I love Paris down to the core. Paris is probably gonna be my New New York (meaning I'm probably gonna visit annually).

Here I share you a mini pictorial recap of my trip.
