November's Goal and Le Sigh

goals n schtuff

Well well well... Look where we at right now? The Eve of a New Month. Crazy.

But first things first.

2 things are bothering my mind right now.
  1. The Aftermath of Super Storm Sandy. Seeing images of New York City & New Jersey getting me really sad. I think about the people who don't have the basic necessities right now and picturing the cold piercing their bones. The pets that are separated from their fur-parents, all cold and scared in a safe cage. Gives me the chills. Like seriously, if only my department aren't so short staffed, I would hop on a plane and volunteer my time. Keep them in your prayers... And if possible, DONATE. Red Cross is legit.
  2. Cyber Bulling. So one of my favorite blogger is being attack by Ms/Mr Anon on her blog over her recent Halloween costume. Sure. You may find it offensive, especially to the LGBT community. I get it. We all have feelings. We all want to be treated equally. I fuckin' get it. Who knows what her intention was as most of us don't know her personally. When I saw it the first time, I was like, "Haha... She looks like a dude." I went bypass the whole pulling-off-to-be-a-butch-lesbian. I fuckin' get it. It's offensive. BUT it's not right for them to insult her, bully her, call her BIGOT, saying that she's sexist/racist/whatever. Maybe a nice comment saying "yo, your costume is not cool, yo" and leave it that way. But for those haters out there to just constantly leaving nasty and mean comments to the point where I see it as Cyber Bullying, that's so not cool. You want equality and to be treated fairly, but if you're seeing other people who may have an opposite opinion than you and calling them names, then shit. Go away. Leave her alone. It's her blog. Freedom to express self. If you don't agree with me, then fine. Unfollow me and I don't care. I don't blog for you. I blog for myself. And don't you dare think you're holy enough to judge me based on my opinions. Don't play God if you can't act like One.
If God’s the game that you’re playing
Well we must get more acquainted
Because it has to be so lonely
To be the only one that’s holy
It’s just my humble opinion
But it’s one that I believe in
You don’t deserve a point of view
If the only thing you see is you - Paramore
Nuff said. I just had to Poop number 2 out.

Anywaysssss... Since November is like knocking at my door, let's recap my October goals and see if I succeed. Rawr.

1. Do a Complete Health Exam - I got 1/2 of that done. I did my GYN exam yesterday. Yes. That deserves a 0.5 point. Hah
2. Get a new tattoo - Failed. 0 point. The time wasn't right and I was going back and forth on what and location of this new tattoo. I've finally got what I want, and still trying to find the right spot.
3. Make Pizza from Scratch - 1 point. I DID IT!!! It was great.

It came out more like a thin crust. I loved the Cast Iron Skillet method because that turned out the greatest. I can't wait to try it again.

4. Yoga - 10 day challenge - Major Fail. 0 point. I didn't have this in my head at all during October. Super sad. And what's makes it worse, I know I need to do it. SAD.
5. Continue Juicing Religiously - I would give myself 0.5 points. I do it at least 3-4 times a week, but for me it's still not routine enough. I have days where I'm tired coming home from work, and all I can think of is where's the food.

Total points: 2 points. Hahahaha.

Now on to November

1. Still continue to Juice - nuff said.
2. Purchase a new Coat - man, it's been awhile for me to get a new coat. I lust over the ones in Shabby Apple and Modcloth. I may purchase one from either store. Oh no.
3. Learn how to make Japanese Hokkaido Milk Bread - Growing up in Asia, I was sooo used to the soft texture of their breads. Way better than the Western bread. Mm... soft bread.
4. Clean Robert's Apt - homeboy has been SOOOOO busy (he often puts 14 hours a day, Mon - Fri and school on top of that) these past months, he has been neglecting the cleanliness of his casa. I'm so gonna clean that place when he's in Shanghai.
5. Learn how to make a Decent Apple Pie - I haven't ventured out to the world of pies, so this would be another challenge. I'm not a big pie fan. I only eat Apple or Blueberry pies.

So what about you guys? Any goals for November?
PS: giveaway still going :)

WTH.

Am I the only one that feels like the e-card above?

Because it's true.

Instead I'm 28. But the statement did started when I turned 27. Some weeks ago, I went to F21 and I could not fit in. It was just too... hip? Teenager? Trendy? Whatever. I just feel awkward now shopping there. Or is it just that kids these days are dressing way too older for their time?

I think it's just me.

And after drinking 2 beers (and maybe a cocktail/shot here and there), I'm already thinking about my pillows and bed. #yawn.

I think it's just me.

I think I'm aging.

Introducing my Sponsors :) plus a Giveaway!

Woo hoo.

Finally I'm able to spare some time to write up this post! I've been so glad to have these fine young ladies hanging out on the right side of the blog. Such pretty ladies.

Being me, I love questionnaires. I love answering questionnaires since the hay days of Xanga/MySpace... So I asked these fine girls some questions... You know, channeling my inner Barbara Walters...

Let's start with our Super Bunnies...

Caitlyn from Enigmatic Ambiance
Blog / Twitter / Instagram

Jessica from Jessica Who?
Blog / Facebook / Twitter / Pinterest

Kathy from That's What She Said
blog / twitter / shop

And wait? These cool girls are participating in a group giveaway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm excited! We'll get to that in a moment.

But first, let me introduce to you to 2 lovely Moonbeamers as well...

These two ladies decided to play along my madness and answered a question that I thought about last minute. Also, instead of a picture of themselves, I asked the to send me a picture of their nails. Haha...

Question:

What song on the radio that's bugging you like crazy right now? Why?

Answers:

Blog / Shop / Twitter
I honestly don't listen to the radio, it's all ipod, old records or cd's for me. I don't even really know what's playing on the radio these days :)

Okay, I thought for a good 10 minutes before I decided that Gangnam Style bugs me...in both a good and a bad way. Good because the song is so upbeat that it wakes me up in the morning when I catch myself dancing in my car on the way to work. Hahaha! They play it a lot on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show. Bad because whenever I go to Asian places (like the 626 Asian Market), that is pretty much all they play. LOL.

And like I said, I love questionnaires, I'm gonna answer along...

1. If you are given 3 wishes, what would they be?
Save all animals; Stop the war; have unlimited money without working -> yes.
2. What is your favorite fragrance?
L by Gwen Stefani. It's a signature scent for me. One time I got pulled over on a Xmas Eve day on the way to work. The cop thought I was playing with my phone while driving. I was like, uh no... Anyways, I gave him my paperwork, and while waiting nervously, I thank God because I put on my badge before I left home. So homeboy came back, said, "Uh ok... Do what you got to do at work and save lives. You have a Merry Christmas, and you smell good." I was like, "HUH?" Also a ER resident asked me one time while we were assessing a patient, "Rima! What's this perfume that you're wearing? It smells really good." BAM. Since then, it's been my favorite.
3. If you can live in the shoes of someone famous for a week, who would it be and why?
Anderson Cooper aka Silver Fox. C'mon. He gets to travel and be in ground zeros. Homeboy is awesome!

And as for songs, I'm soooooo tired of Call Me Maybe. That song should've retired since it came out.

Now as for the Giveaway (woo)... The Super Bunnies and I are giving away to ONE winner:

1 Month Medium Ad Space to all 4 of our blogs (Bolu By Rima, Jessica Who?, Enigmatic Ambiance and That's What She Said) and Kathy is giving away also a $10 Gift Card to her Etsy Store! Yay.

Let's say this is our Halloween Present to you!

Starts Halloweenie til Sunday! So hurry!

Stop by to these wonderful girls's blogs and say hi!!!

I'm still accepting Sponsors as well :)

MOONBEAMS,
Rima

Pray for East Coast

As Hurricane Sandy passes by the East Coast, my heart yearns for the people over there. Y'all know how much I love New York City. As my future home (har har), I pray for the safety being of all residence, including animals, and major props to all of the health care workers that are doing their best to keep saving lives.

I just read that NYU Medical Center's power went out and their generator failed. Now they're evacuating the premises. That's so scary.

What I really want to do now is volunteer over there... If only time and $$$ allows me to do so.

Please keep East Coast in prayers. Not only that, also The Bahamas too that were affected earlier.

Links I Love Sunday

Hey Ho Let's Go.

It's Sunday yo. So how did everyone survived their Halloween party??? I didn't party because I didn't party. I'm doing a pizza partay of my own right now... (part of October goal!).

As y'all nurse yourself to health (if you drank that much of booze), I'm gonna share links I loved for the past week.
  • Oh Lord. Did any of you acted lady like towards your man until you're like officially official? Let's talk about farting. This lady's story made my Sunday afternoon. Honestly, I did. Then I knew it was love when Rob started farting in front of me. Then he said, "how come you're not farting?" Win.
  • Ok. So I'm like a Travel Wannabe... And reading this article on how to score great deals for traveling makes the little nomad in my excited.
  • Being an Animal lover, this video brought me to tears. I was like sobbing. Embarrassing.  But I'm so happy this elephant is saved.
  • Now I love proposal videos, and I give props to this guy. Yes, cheesy song but the effort is bomb.
  • I love dogs. Now Let's take a Minute to Appreciate them.
  • I love dogs (again). Watch this video. I cried like for 2 full minutes.

I hope you all have a good Sunday :)

xo Rima

Since it's Halloween Partay Weekend...

and here I am in Coffee Bean. Yes. I partied at Coffee Bean. At first I was at a sushi place where all the servers, including Sushi Chefs, dressed up. I was served by a Burger King... King.

Yup. This Guy. via
Anyways, I've never been a big fan of Adult Halloween Party. Why? One, I don't know why every woman in the room has to dress a slutty this, a slutty that. Why can't it be like... Creepy or Fun?

La Lohan in Mean Girls
Two, I dislike drunk people ruining the fun or my conversation with people or getting mad without any reason because I'm talking to their beau about their favorite soccer team/NFL team. Seriously..

Three, No Candy. JK. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of candy.

Anyways... Since my favorite time of the year, Christmas, is coming up... This is where my excitement comes in... Planning for my Young Adults (formerly knowns as the Youths) Secret Gift Exchange. What's fun is that we've been doing themes for the past 2 - 3 years (Last year's was 90s, the year prior was Red, Green & Gold/Ugly Sweater)... And since (in our religion) we don't practice or celebrate Halloween, we decided to come up for this year... Nightmare before Christmas. Yes. A costume party. And I'm super excited.

I've been browsing around for some costume ideas. So far I have...

Bunny... and I'll tweak it around... Bunny Mafia? Dark Bunny?

via

Iron (wo)Man

Katniss Everdeen
via
Sugar Skull - but this would be hard for me since I have a tendency to smear my make up at the end of the night...

Source: google.com via Kerry on Pinterest

So... I think I should do a poll to help me out. Dressing up for Christmas sounds funner than Halloween.

PS: I don't celebrate Christmas as the birthday of Jesus Christ. I celebrate it as the Season of Giving.
PSS: Please no comment regarding religion. Keep it to yourself.

xoxo, Rima

Friday's Letters

Dear Chimmy, you look so cute today with your new haircut. Now if only your attitude is as cute as your haircut. STOP BARKING.

Dear the Pillow, let's make next week as special as possible since we're gonna celebrate your 28th birthday and you're gonna be gone for 3 weeks abroad.

Dear Self,  I wish you can sleep early and wake up early so you don't have to rush your ass off to work, every-single-morning.

Dear Readers, thanks for sticking by Bolu. For you new readers, Thanks for stopping by. Means a lot to me. For my Sponsors, I <3 BIG TIME! Thank you Thank you. I'm still accepting sponsors for November!

Dear Self, please control your appetite. Sincerely me.

Dear Lifehouse, this song is sad. Makes me miss him.

Dear Brother, you need to post more videos like this.

xoxo...
Rima

It's OK Thursday

Sure. I love link-ups. But I only do certain ones that I love. When I saw It's OK Thursday on Jan's site, I was like, sure why not let's do this thang.

And I did a lot of bad things today, so it's my excuse for me to say it was okay for me to do it. I love giving excuses. Even the Pillow notices that. Sad.

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Ok...
  • to eat a whole bag of Goldfish crackers while you're bored to death at work (true story)
  • to drag your mother and dog to go to drive-thru Farmer's Boys
  • to eat fried food instead of juicing on a Thursday night
  • to not finish your fried food when you're completely stuff but feel bad about wasting food and ending up to finish it all :(
  • to be excited when you see that people are actually purchasing an ad spot on your blog (giddy to the max)
  • to have a major CRY-FEST watching this video (please do click and watch)
  • to sometime be more sympathetic towards homeless and abandoned animals than humans (ok besides babies)... those animals have no choice
  • to roll your eyes when your boss is making lame jokes
  • to nibble on a fry for 10 minutes
bunny kisses,
Rima

Reminiscing Wednesday

Today I would like to share one of my No Doubt songs. In exactly 1 month, I'll be in the Pit, singing every No Doubt song out loud with 2 of my buddies. I can not wait.

Probably I've mentioned before, I've been to 2 No Doubt concerts. The last one I've even flown in to Salt Lake City just to see them because I couldn't wait for 3 months for them to perform in SoCal. Haha. That was a cool concert because Ms. Gwen brought out her eldest son, Kingston, on stage for us to sing Happy Birthday to the little guy. Sweet. Oh and of course The Sounds and Paramore were opening for them (I've seen them live too as well).

The first one was when they did their tour with Blink 182. Now that's epic.

Things I Love Monday, week 41 - 42

Wow. I just realized how much I've been slacking. I used to be so religious when it comes to Things I Love Monday... But I guess life just gets you.

Well, in the mean time, I'm sharing this. WARNING: F-Bombs in the video (for you kids out there)

I've watched this 5 times already and still laughing out loud. I was crying last night from stomach pain.

Anyways, the past 2 weeks have been a super blur to me... I haven't been updating my own journal. Sad. All I can think of is from Mon - Friday I've been working and working and working... So tiring.

Then finally on the weekends, I was able to chill for a bit. Weekend of 41 was great because I finally got to see the Pillow (as always), who just came back from New Jersey... And we had our weekly Panera date (it's been a trend in our lives since he's trying to catch up with his Law School). Then we went to his nephew's birthday party.

Chimmy missed the Pillow too. Sucker.
This past week was rough on me because I was on call *le sigh* but now since it's over, I'm looking forward to my paycheck haha. But anyways, it was rough because on Friday I had to stay over and ended up working for 14 hours that day. We had an ICU patient that we were working on and got a Super STAT OR/Trauma patient that had a severe accident (he went straight to OR from Trauma with a traumatic bilateral legs amputation). He was down already on route and they were coding him in Trauma AND in the OR. I was praying so hard that he wouldn't code on my table. It was crazy. We had 4 RNs for this one critical patient. He had 30 Pints of Blood in total that day.

Sadly, he passed away on Saturday. That was one of the roughest cases I've ever had. Until now I'm still in shock.

I passed out Saturday morning and chill the whole day... Hoping I wouldn't get called in. Rob came over around the evening and surprised me with Lilies :) We had a lovely dinner at Buca Di Beppo. I really wanted their Tiramisu. Nom.

One of the best dishes at Buca Di Beppo
I managed to make some awesome Pumpkin Bread during my busy time. Soothes me.
Btw, guess what? You know how I feel about kids right? Anyways, last week and today I got a call back from a famous children's hospital regarding my application... That I applied like MONTHS ago. I totally forgot about it until I got that phone call from the HR.

I was debating the whole week... until I got another phone call today. Unfortunately she called when I was in a case... I debated during lunch time, and then finally called back during my break to find out she was busy. So I left a message.

So oh Dear God, if this is a sign, then I'll let it be Your way for me. I know You know how much I'm disliking my current job due to its politics and maybe this is a hint of a sign for me for a better future.

Wish me luck and include me in your prayers, guys!!

Hope you have a bunniful week :)

BTW, I'm doing two giveaways...
One is Erin's Pinktober Giveaway which is due Wednesday!
And Jessica's Black and White and Red Allover Giveaway!

Just A Reminder...

Shades of Gray and a Pinch of Pink

Just a reminder... My buddy, Erin from Shades of Gray and a Pinch of Pink is still hosting an amazing giveaway (I'm in it!)

But what's more amazing of this giveaway is that she posted about the importance of doing a self-breast exam. Girls, we gotta save them girls. It's best to catch things EARLY!! Seriously.

Matter of fact, I made an appointment with my GYN at the end of the month.

You know, part of my Let's Get Physical Goal for October and my October Goals.

Go and click at the awesome pink banner above and get those "girls" checked!

Random Saturday, Part 2

Like I said, I just found my old xanga account and going thru posts.

Now this cracks me up.

If you're Asian, you would probably laugh.

I'm Asian, so I did laugh.

Apparently I got this from an email (back in January 22, 2004!), and I posted this on my xanga.

this is just for shiz-and-giggles. If you're offended by this, oh well.

What kind of Asian are you?
Young Asians in America come in many forms. Below are the major categories. Most Asians fit into multiple groups. For example, Rice-boys can also be Fobs and many Tabs are Fobulous. The only groups that are never part of another group are the Twinkies and the Asian-Americans. Claim your Fobbiness! When you see your Asian friend, greet them with "Wassup Fob!" And if your Asian friend says something ridiculous, say "Fob please!" Of course, when a non-Asian calls you a Fob that is grounds for a fight. Ahahaha... The categories below are to be taken lightheartedly. Read, recognize and laugh.

Twinkie
Besides your nationality, there is little to distinguish you from white people.
Your significant other is not Asian and never has been.
You have few Asian friends, if any.
You are embarrassed at family events because you cannot speak your language and everyone has to switch to English to communicate with you.
You have no idea that the other types of Asians on this list even exist.
You think Hello Kitty is dumb and do not know what Sanrio is.
You are the only Asian on the list that does not know what Bubble Tea is.
You drive a Ford or some other domestic car and if you drive a Honda, it is stock.

Asian-American
You claim yourself as Asian, but real Asians think you're whitewashed and non-Asians see you as a foreigner. You fit in nowhere.
You have heard of Bubble Tea but have never actually had any.
You are confused about your cultural identity and express this frustration through spoken word performances at your college.
You read A. magazine and think it's great.
You do not know who Leon, Aaron, Sammi, Hikki, or Kangta are.
You are only vaguely aware of the other Asians below.

FOB (Fresh Off the Boat)
You were not born in America.
You know who Leon, Aaron,Sammi, Hikki, and Kangta are. In fact, you have seen them at Atlantic City or Las Vegas recently.
You speak your native language fluently and so do all your friends.
You do not have any non-Asian friends.
Your parents do not speak any English.
When you speak English, you like to make everything plural.
You get extremely good grades in school.
You cannot dance.
Your fashion sense comes fromwhatever country you're from and you incorporate nothing from American fashion into your wardrobe.

SuperFob
Your command of the English language is minimal and you don't care.
You like dim sum chicken feet.
You do not own a single CD, VCD, Video game, or DVD that isn't bootlegged.
Your only hangout is Chinatown.
All the lights in your house are fluorescent.
You dry your cloths outside your window.
You need a haircut.
You either smell like cigarettes or food.

Fobabee
You are an Asian-American or Twinkie who has recently "awoken".
You have a newly found fetish of Asian girls/boys.
You have taken the Asian Studies course at college.
You are trying to learn as much as possible about your culture to make up for your lifetime of trying to be white (Twinkie; Banana) or White (Chigger; Thousand year old egg).
If you are lucky, you will grow to become Fobulous.

Gangsta Fob
You have shot another Asian.
Your favorite hangout is a pool hall.
When you talk, you sound like a cross between a Fob and an urban black kid.
Your hair looks silly, but no one will tell You because you'll shoot them.
You have a serious gambling problem.
You are a Rice-boy, but your mods are cheap and are never painted to match the rest of your car.
No one tells you your rice ride looks cheapbecause you'll shoot them.
You want to have a Tab girlfriend, but can only get Hoochie Tabs.

Tab (Trendy Asian B*tch)
You shop at A/X, Bebe, Banana Republic and Club Monaco.
You only wear black and will occasionally wear white to "mix it up".
You do not weigh more than 105 lbs.
You have never paid for dinner at a restaurant in your life.
Platform heels are your favorite.
You are a makeup expert, in fact, you appear completely flawless.
You do not smile in public.
You are the object of desire of all Asian men and you know it.
You smoke.
Your cell phone is completely customized.
On the inside flip of your cell phone is a sticker pic of you and your man.
Somewhere in your purse is a Sanrio item.
You only date Asian and will only date a boy with a nice car.
You are often seen with Rice-boys.
You never travel alone. You are either in the company of other Tabs or your Rice-boy boyfriend.

Hoochie Tab
You are an import car model.
Your boobs are not real.
There are naked pictures of you floating around on the internet somewhere.
Stiletto heels are your favorite.
Your role models are Francine Dee and Kaila Yu.
Your boyfriend is a Gangsta Fob.
You cheat on your boyfriend.
Unlike most Asians, you do not do well in school.

Rice-Boy
You drive an Asian import. Usually a Honda or Acura.
Your souped up car (known as a Rice-ride or Rice-rocket) is unrecognizable from it's original stock form.
Your exhaust pipe is big enough for your head to fit in.
The spoiler on your car looks like it was made by Boeing.
The interior of your car also looks like it was designed by Boeing.
You always drive like you are racing someone.
You are not afraid of dying in a crash, but you are afraid of speed bumps and parking lot on-ramps.

Random Saturday

So I finally looked up my old xanga account, and now I just spent the last 3 hours clicking thru it, knowing how naive I was back then... and how EMO I was back then. Ah the good ol' college days. A little FYI, back in college, I didn't have many friends. most of my friends were church friends and the jerk-ex-boyfriend (whom i truly did love at the time, apparently).

I found this post and I couldn't help but not to re-post.

~How To Annoy People In An Elevator~
  • Burp, and then say “mmmm...tasty!”
  • Call out, “Group hug!” and enforce it.
  • Do Tai Chi exercises.
  • Drop a pen and wait until someone reaches to help pick it up, then scream, “That’s mine!”
  • Hum the theme from Mission Impossible with yours eyes darting around the elevator.
  • Lean against the button panel.
  • Move your desk in to the elevator, and whenever someone gets on, ask if they have an appointment.
  • Play dead.
  • Read a book upside down.
  • Say "Ding!" at each floor.
  • Stare at your thumb and say, "I think it's getting larger."
  • Wear a Santa suit...in June.
  • When the elevator is silent, look around and ask, "Is that your beeper?"

~Annoying Things To Do In A Discount Superstore~
  • As the cashier runs your purchases over the scanner, look mesmerized and say, "Wow. Magic!"
  • Dart around suspiciously while humming the theme from "Mission: Impossible."
  • Fill your shopping cart with matchbooks and gasoline and walk around smiling at people.
  • Go into the dressing room and yell real loud... “Hey, we’re out of toilet paper in here!”
  • Grab handfulls of super bounce balls and go wild.
  • Move "Caution: Wet Floor" signs to carpeted areas.
  • Put random items in the shopping carts of others while they aren't looking.
  • Repeat whatever the store clerk tells you.
  • Set up a "Valet Parking" sign in front of the store.
  • Take all of the free AOL cd's on the end of the check out counter

~Ways To Annoy People At The Movies~
  • Throw popcorn in the air and yell, "It's snowing!"
  • Go, "Oooooh..." whenever anyone kisses.
  • Clap when the good guy gets killed.
  • During the previews, yell, "Can you fast-forward it?"
  • Wear 3d glasses. Complain loudly how bad the effect are.
  • Bring a remote control. Complain that you can't change the channel.
  • Bring a beach ball. Toss it around.
  • Try to start a wave.
  • Every time someone curses cover your ears and scream, "No profanity!"
  • Sing with the theme music.
  • Use binoculars. Stare at the audience rather than the movie.
  • Laugh hysterically during the sad parts in the movie, cry during the funny ones.
  • Say "Shhhhh" every 5 minutes.
  • Pass by a room that’s showing a movie you’ve already seen, put your head into the room, and scream the ending.
Would any of you do this? Haha... I don't think I would.

moonbeams,
Rima

revamping.

i'm bored.

Guest Post: JanMLoves

Today, we have a treat, fellow bunnies. A Moonbeamer, Ms. Jan M of JanMLoves, a fellow SoCal girl like moi, had the time to answer some of my questions for my Guest Post for today. Yay.

Twitter | Pinterest
Cool fact: We both love FOOD. Wait. Who doesn't?

What I love about her is how family oriented and down to earth she is. AAAANNNDDD she has better fashion sense than me. Hahaha.

Well thank you for answering my weird questions, Jan.
  • Do you believe in Astrology? Why/Why Not? What is your sign?

I don't. I don't mind if other people do though! Last year, our office actually hired a Psychic to visit our office for Halloween. She's one of those celebrity ones and I didn't go to a session with her. Why? Because one, it's kind of against Christianity and second, I don't want to know anything about my future...I'd rather cross the bridge when I get there rather than getting my hopes up because she felt teh positive vibration ;) I'm a Gemini - people say we have 2 personalities. I know what mine are - my professional office personality and the real me. Some people in my office get to see both though!
  • What was the last thing you ever got grounded for?

I honestly never got grounded. EVER. The worst thing I got as a punishment when I was a kid was when my mom won't talk to me because she's pissed. Haha! That still bothers me when we argue and we don't make up right away until now.
  • If you had to choose to not ever wash your bed sheets again or not wash your bath towel ever again, which would you rather not wash?

(this one is from The Bible – About My Friends Book - Nicotext)

Mkay, for the last question, that was just a weird gag question. Haha... I had this book called The Bible - About my Friends Book that I got back in 2004 from Urban Outfitters. If I read it, all the answers that my friends wrote, crack me up. There's even a entry by Robert, back in the days. He was trying to be Mr. Mysterious. I'm gonna have him fill it up again.

Thanks again to Jan for taking time to do a guest post aka Q&A with Bolu :)

I Got Nominated Again :)

I feel the love.

I've been nominated again for a Liebster Award from the awesome Yen of Green House on Top of the Hill... Thanks to the award, I found out she's a SoCal girl :) GIRL COME HOME!

Since I did one before, and if you forgot or want read about me, click here.

But being cool me (har har), I'm gonna answer Yen's questions, because I just love to.

1. What is your current top 5 favorite songs at the moment?
Gosh, this is hard. But let's say... Fix You - Coldplay; Oath - Cher Lloyd; Home - Phillip Phillips; The A Team - Ed Sheeran; In My Place - Coldplay
2. Why did you start a blog?

Hahaha... I love to express my feelings. I'm not good with verbal words, but good in writing them out. I'd rather make a long ass note and give it to the person and leave instead of talking in person. I think it's the fear of me facing the actual moment and emotions that might happen. Anyways, I love ranting and sharing my thoughts, so I've been blogging since 2001, back in the xanga days.
3. If you cook, what is your favorite go to dish to make?

I would say Pasta. Easy!
4. What is your favorite holiday and why?

New Years... Starting over again. Starting my diet over again. Starting new feelings and emotions again. PARTAAAAAAAY
5. What foods do you hate and why?

I hate ginger. They just taste nasty in my mouth. And raw onions. GROSS.
6. If you could have any profession in the world, what would you want to be?

A Baker. I love creating food. I can spend hours in the kitchen. Now if only I have a new mixer and a bigger kitchen, and have no debts, then we're talkin ;)
7. List 5 weird habits you have.

  • When I'm excited/nervous/stressed, I rub my face, a lot. I think it's the eczema.
  • I talk to myself like I'm talking to a BFF, all the time
  • I could zone out for like 10 minutes straight
  • I can stare at my face in front of the mirror, looking for unwanted hair/zit, for 1 hour. True story.
  • I crack my knuckles, neck and back every morning.

8. Coffee or Tea?
I'm a Coffee Person at work. But when I'm out and about, Ice Tea. Yum.
9. Current book you're reading?

Baked; Flour Water Salt Yeast; Mainly Baking Books hahahaha
10. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I'll be 33 by then... I would love to be married by then, hopefully being in school or finishing Pastry School. And work part time at a favorite hospital.
11. Do you like the city/town you're currently living in?

Currently I live in Rancho Cucamonga, California. I've been here for the past 11 years. I've seen it grown from a quite suburbs to a pretty prestigious and busy one. It's one of the best areas in the Inland Empire. Pretty cool. Most of my family (from both sides) are a drive away and it's awesome. NOW, let's talk about my boyfriend's area. Newport Beach. Well, pretty much Orange County. I have a secret place in my heart for that place. It's special.

Thanks Yen :)))))))

Me, Myself & I

Time to get to know me better via,

1. What is your favorite season?
Spring. Why? Flowers. Pretty weather. Green trees. Blue skies and White fluffy flowers. Not too hot, not too cold. Perfect weather for a pair of shorts, flip-flops and your favorite t-shirt, with a nice ice coffee latte in one hand while walking your dog. AND, it's my birthday season. Haha...
2. Talk about a moment that changed your life.
This may sound UBER CHEESY, but probably the day that Rob asked if he can kiss me. It was very random. Back of my head, I was like, "uh this can be awkward but hell, why not? I've been single for a long time and I may lose my kissing skills." We were in his car, he was dropping me off from the beach where we spent the afternoon with our youth group. I tagged along with him because my house was on the way. Funny thing was we spent the whole afternoon catching up with our lives (we've been friends for awhile, via church, and he left our church cuz he was seeing someone outside our church... then he broke up and came back to our church, since most of his family go to our church). Then that sorta sweet yet awkward moment happen. Funny thing was we both said that kiss was just a kiss and we both hope that it won't turn our friendship into awkwardness. I dance with Chimmy that night in my room. Then the next day, we had our first date, watching Iron Man. From there on, the rest was history. My life wouldn't be the same without him. Now you can throw cheese at me.
3. If you could be any crayola crayon color, what would you be and why?
Turquoise Blue! Just because it's my favorite color. It reminds me of mermaids.
4. Describe yourself as a superhero: Superpower? Name? Sidekick?
I would be Moonlight Lady. My superpower would be invisibility and being able to time travel. My sidekick would be a small fluffy bunny who sits on top of my shoulder, but will transfer into a mean bear when we need to fight.
5. If you had all the money in the world and could only shop at 3 stores, where would you shop?
Anthropologie. Target. Homegoods.
Anthropologie, because they're super expensive but I love their clothing and their kitchen wear. Their pajamas are sooo comfy. Target, because well duh Target. You have EVERYTHING in that store. Homegoods, because I just love finding good deals for my kitchen stuffs... Have all the money in the world and still getting good deals? Why not?

Join the link up. It's pretty fun. They do it monthly :)

Reminiscing Wednesday

The first time I saw this movie, I was in love. In love with the cinematography, in love with the characters, in love with its colors, in love with its story line, in love with its soundtrack.

There's this one particular scene that I love dearly. At one point in life, I wanted to reenact that scene with my boyfriend. I believe the first time I saw this movie, I was still with Jerk Boyfriend. So this could be between the year 2003 - 2005. I can't remember. All I remember was my feelings when I saw this movie for the first time.

Prior to watching this movie, I've never had interest in it. One, it was in a foreign language. Two, why is the character on the poster so pale? Three, my parents seen it before me on HBO and thought it was weird because they didn't get it.

Being a hopelessly romantic girl, later on, I gave this movie a try. And I feel in love. I bought the DVD. The more I watch the movie, the more I feel in love with it. AND the more I get the story line. The story line makes more sense the more I watch it. I even purchased the soundtrack. I love listening to the soundtrack, especially when I'm driving or even baking.

Hell, the movie made me learn how to make Creme Brûlée.

Now you're wondering WTH movie I'm talking about.

Food Time: Chocolate Carrot Beet Pulp Bread (and Playing Nurse)

And I know you guys are thinking... JUICE PULP? You're not the only one. Mother thought the same thing... like, "Rima... Seriously?"

As you may know, I've been juicing lately... For the past 2 months, even though it's off and on. I love the way the juices (esp the Green Juice) make me feel. I feel rejuvenated and there's that boost of energy. What sucks is that I waste all the pulps, you know, where all the fibers are.

A couple of days ago, I took care of a Cancer patient. She had stage 4 Colon Cancer. What amazed me was her energy. She had this ball of vibrant energy that you rarely see in a stage 4 cancer patient. She had a percutaneous nephrostomy tube that we had to exchange because of the low output (it's a tube that is placed in the kidneys to drain urine because of obstructions that blocks the urine to your bladder). Her energy was contagious. As we were finishing up her procedure, my doctor gave her some good news... the output to her tube is low because her tumor is shrinking, thanks to her treatment. The look on her face was awe-ing. She was full smile and was so thankful to us and to God.

Then I dropped her off to her room and we chit-chatted on the way. She said she juices. I told her the same. Homegirl said she juices and bakes the pulp because she doesn't like to see food go to waste. I've heard about this before but never attempted to do so.

When I got home, I did some research and came up with this recipe. I made it this past Saturday with the thought of that patient I took care off. I drank the juice (it was Beet, Carrot, Apple and Cucumber) and saved the pulp to make this bread.

Ms. Super Energy, this one is for you. Girl, the bread turned out super moist and yummy. Awesome for breakfast.

You don't need a mixer for this. Just a whisk, a spatula and some muscles.

Chocolate Carrot Beet Pulp Bread
makes 1 bread. Yum.

What you need:
  • 1/4 cup of Cocoa Powder
  • 1 3/4 cups of All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp powdered Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 3/4 cups packed Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Apple Sauce
  • 1 Ripe Banana, mashed
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 cup of Juice Pulp
  • 1 cup of toasted nuts (I love Almonds) - optional
Heat Yo Oven @ 350F. Spray a 9x5x3 loaf pan with Baking Pam or do the old fashion way by greasing it with butter/margarine and dust with flour. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk cocoa powder, flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg until combined, set aside. If your nuts are raw, toast them in the oven for 10 minutes and let it cool.

In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar and oil. Add apple sauce and mashed banana and mix to combine. Then mix in the Juice Pulp until combined evenly.

Fold in the dry ingredients in to the wet one, do not overmix. Fold in 1/2 cup of the nuts (if using)

Pour in batter in to loaf pan and sprinkle the top with the rest of the 1/2 cup of nuts, if using.

Bake for at least 1 hour or until a cake tester comes out clean.

Meanwhile take pictures of your dog posing, waiting to play with you.

Once out, let the bread cool in the pan on top of a cooling rack for 10 - 15 minutes. Reverse to let the bread out, cut and enjoy.

Definitely the texture is dense, let's say comparing with Banana Bread. The cool thing is that you can't taste the beet, carrots nor cucumber. They make the bread moist. Mm, gosh I love moist breads.

Thanks to Ms. Super Energy for inspiring me to make this bread.

If you decide to give it a try, let me know. I'm curious how this bread would go if the pulps had like kale or spinach. Gah. Sounds gory though.
