#boluineurope: Milan

Ok... ok... I know these are long overdue. I don't know how these travel bloggers keep up with posts. Haha... The Asia posts will creep up before you know it...

Well well Milan. Spent a quick weekend in Milan with the Pillow because he always wanted to see one of his favorite football team's stadium since God knows when. Unfortunately this time we were not able to catch a live game because we woke up late and ended up enjoying our brunch time in Lugano. It was about a 1 hour drive from Lugano to Milan. We headed straight to San Siro, and with a sad face, unfortunately the stadium was closed for the public and the museum was the only thing was open. We went in anyways.

After San Siro, we checked in to our hotel and head out to see the Duomo & Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping center. What's Europe without visiting an old church? Duomo was HUGEEEE and the Galleria was super pretty. Unfortunately it started to rain, but it ended up pretty cool roaming around town with an umbrella :) Plus of course, we had some gelato!

The following day after we checked out, we headed back to San Siro to do the stadium tour. The Pillow was really giddy.

this is his serious football player face
Then we headed back to the Duomo & Galleria to eat some yummy Italian food (I seriously look at pasta different now) and did some wallet damage (Rob got himself a Gucci wallet the day before and he bought me a Gucci sunglasses. Hello!)

Then we were ready to head back to Switzerland but with a pitstop at Milanello, where AC Milan players practice. It was seriously in the middle of houses and next to a corn field.

Honestly, I wasn't really to impressed with Milan. Maybe it's because we only spent a weekend there and didn't get a chance to explore more. Maybe because I've never had any really big interest in Italy in general. You can call me crazy. Haha. Maybe I'll give it a try next time.

Til the next one,

Insert Squeal Here

I did it!

This was actually how my face looked when I realized I successfully made Bolu Kukus.

It may look all wrong, not quite perfect yet, but the texture was right and so was the flavor.

One day, it will look like this...

Even Mum & Dad approved.
Dad, "You can bring these to church now."
Mom, "You can bring these to church now."

Uh, okay parents.

Incase you're wondering, this cake is what my blog is named after :)
Bolu Kukus means Steamed Cake. It's a traditional snack in Indonesia. It is a tricky sonofabeetch to make.

Yay. Happy Sunday!

cue that song... (Revisit: 12 Things)

tiger cub elephant thailand

by Katy Perry... "Roar"

I couldn't stop playing that song in my head as I was playing around with tigers & elephants in Thailand. I had so much fun meeting, petting, feeding, bathing, walking and just goofing around with these awesome creatures.

Especially dancing with Apple, the Swaying Elephant. Btw, me squealing in the end is because of the red ants biting my feet. Eek.

Plus, can not forget my 12 Things, where #10 is Swimming with Dolphins. This was accomplished in Bali. I was able to spend time with Nemo, the youngest in the group, for about 30 minutes with my friend Helga and an elderly couple. Nemo was soo cute. And I salute the trainer, Julio, who's been working with these dolphins for 10 years. Yes, they are in captivity, and yes, we pay to see them and be entertained by them, BUT what I've found out is that they do release them to the ocean to swim freely and these dolphins come back for food. They don't work all day every day, they do have off days during the week and they get fed 3 times a day plus snacks. One thing I am happy about is that these trainers love what they do and love the animals as well.

Since we are still talking about animals, I went to the Monkey Forest in Ubud, Bali, where these monkeys are considered sacred in the Forest. They are fierce when you feed them. This one was just chillin' so I decided to pose with him.

Not familiar with 12 Things? You can read about it here :)

I am Back!

Oh hello there.

I am back from my Asian Trip. And I had to call off work today because I woke up, still jet lagged, but what's worse is that I had some, as my dear cousin Akira said, anal hangover, and was up since 4 AM, going back and forth to the bathroom. Holla America.

So these are the things that are accompanying me in my night stand...

With the addition of some Kao Tom Gai (Thai Chicken Porridge) that I made with some hot tea and... Imodium (eww). Oh and some back pains and headache.

Meanwhile I was super fine the whole trip as I ate myself to craziness with street food (hello $1.50 Pad Thai!).

I still need to catch up on the last Euro Trip (Hello Milan & London!) along with some awesome Bali & Thai posts.

This make take awhile as I have to back to work. Bear down with me here.
