Chimmy's Corner

Oh hey there people. It's been a long time since Mum let me express my wuff feelings on her blog. She's been selfish *licks paws*
While she was busy working, traveling the world and baking, I just lay around all day... sleeping underneath G-Ma's bed, snuggling with my little pink porky.
While Mum is busy doing things, I like to just guard G-Ma's room, just being my lazy old butt, by the door, farting around until G-Ma gets mad.
Sometimes I like to pose with G-Ma, who's a slight camera whore. She likes posing in the grass with me, of course, after I pee and rub my wee-wee clean all over her jeans without her knowing.
Also, I like to listen to G-Ma and Great G-Ma gossiping. My opinions count, you know.
G-Ma loves the computer, especially her Facebook, sometimes more than me... So to distract her, I just go close to her and fart on her until she gets really mad and I just smile. This is my not guilty face.
Then when Mum is around and just lounging on the couch, I like to challenge her on a staring contest. I win all the time. I give her a fierce & intense stare. I see her soul.
But of course, I love when Mum takes me for a ride in her car. I feel like Meaty the dog in this video clip. It's indeed The Best Day of my Life

Well til then non-furry human. I'm going to continue and lay & fart around my castle.

Chimmy

Volunteering with Bill Foundation

If Chimmy can talk, I know he would pat my back (or more likely lick my face like crazy).

I finally volunteered with Dogs!!! Not really an Animal Shelter like I wanted to, but super close to it :) This past Sunday, I spent my free time with the Bill Foundation. If you're not familiar with the Bill Foundation, I really really really really recommend on reading about what they do & their mission. I love their motto: It's Takes Village to Save a Life. And boy I was glad to be part of their village.

They do adoption fares every other Sunday for the month at this awesome pet food store in Santa Monica called Healthy Spot. I was actually getting kinda "star-struck" seeing all these dogs that I've been following on their Youtube and Facebook.

So as volunteers, our role is to play with the dogs and walk them around so they can do their "business" outside during the adoption fair, and also help with setting up and cleaning. The Bill Foundation crew were super friendly and great to work with. I promise myself, if possible, to volunteer with them at least once a month. My heart was filled with this compassionate love towards these dogs, and in a way, I was glad that they are getting another chance in living. Most of these dogs are being fostered, and there is one lady who fosters 12 of them. 12 DOGS! God bless her! Hopefully one day I can foster one or 2 of these dogs. If only I have a bigger house -_-

This is Carly. She was rescued from a shelter and had severe eye, ear and skin infection and poorly matted fur. You can see her before picture here. She's this little bundle of cotton that kept on jumping on my lap, just wanted to snuggle. Adorable.

This is little Freddie. This little bundle of joy was hit by a car and yet was saved. I believe due to his accident, he walks a little funny, galloping like a little pony. That doesn't stop him from running and being playful. He's super adorable.

This is Marilyn Monroe... who was saved by the great Eldad of Hope for Paws. She's such a cute with a wiggle butt. I love wiggle butt.

Oh my gosh I love this little one. His name is Benny. Little BenBen, I called him. This cotton ball was saved from the streets with severe oral infection. Because of that, he lost a lot of his teeth. But seriously he has the sweetest smile no matter what. I kept on cuddling with him. Gah.

This is Mr. Cash. This little guy is too cute. He's chubby and has this wiggle butt too. I loves to sit alone by the window, but then barks with happiness when people passed by. He just chilled on my lap for 20 minutes, almost falling asleep. Super adorbs.

Then there's Janie. You must click her video below and watch her rescue. Please. (you can read about her here)

Janie looks very healthy now and is able to run around like no other. She still has trust issues with human (according to her foster dad, who's btw is super awesome), but apparently she did very well at the adoption fair. And this is her now...
Isn't she super cute??!?! I can't believe why a human being would ran over a dog. Shameful. I hope one day the person that did this realized how awful their action was.

The infamous Bethany was there (too bad I didn't get a chance to take a picture of her) which made me had that little "star-struck" feeling. You can watch her video here. Seeing her how she was and seeing her now, you can feel how love and compassion & lots of patience can change the world. I would say for both animal and human.

I would seriously like to thank the Bill Foundation for having me as a volunteer. I can't wait to do it again in October.
I encourage you to donate to Bill Foundation and Hope for Paws so they can continue to do what they do. And please spay and neutered your pets. Overpopulation is not great and increases the chance of unnecessary killing and stray pets. And PLEASE ADOPT if you're considering getting a pet. Those sheltered animals deserve a second chance. I hope I can have the chance to adopt soon.

Chimmy's Corner

Chimichanga is acting up lately. One day he'll eat like a maniac, another day he will fast. And then fart. Stinky.

Anyways, there are 2 animal related videos I want to share because it is good.

An update with my upcoming Bali trip, my friend, Helga, and I already got 50 dog bowls and 50 collars to donate to BAWA Bali. Super excited. We will eventually buy the dog foods locally once we're in Bali. We are still in need of used towels and blankets, so for anyone who are interested in helping, please let me know :)

Insert Sad Face Here

Why?

After a LOONNNGGG discussion with my future-travel-partner-in-crime, Kat Von D's Cousin Helga, we both decided to not volunteer with BAWA Bali (read my earlier post here).

Why?

The Rabies vaccine that is required cost a BUTT LOAD of travel money. It's a series of shots (3!) and each shot costs about $280 (and according to the travel pharmacist, that's a discount!) That's Bungee Jumping money!

So Helga and I discussed that we rather each bring MORE supplies/stuffs that BAWA needs along with us to Bali. So I emailed Kim from BAWA and she responded me with things they need...

Hello Rima

That is sad news, but very understandable, the vaccines are very expensive!

Thank you so much for offering to bring us donations - every single one helps us out so much.

If you are going to get toys then please get hard rubber ones, the cloth type spread disease.  And clip collars are so much better for Bali dogs that buckle ones.

Old towels are the best type of bedding, old towels are soft and absorbent - new ones take several washes and sometimes they get chewed after the first use!

Dog bowls - oh my, we always need dog bowls.  Metal ones, Bali Dogs chew these up like they are rubber so you can imagine what they do with plastic ones!

If you like you can also purchase us items once you arrive in Bali.  We always need rice, chicken, eggs, bleach, washing powder, liquid soap, dry dog food, cat food etc. all of which you can purchase easily in Bali.

Thank you so much for trying to volunteer with us.  If you would like I would be very happy to give you a tour around our clinic so that you can see our work in action.  You won't be able to touch the animals but it will give you a sense of the type of work that we do - and you will get to see where your donations are going.  If you would like this then please let us know the date and time you would like to come - we only do clinic tours by appointment.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Warm Regards

Kim

I'm happy at least I can tour the place and see them in action. They also take monetary donations via their website. AND if you show proof of donation to me, I will mail you a jar full of madeleines.

SETARRA, yours is coming up this weekend :)

Thank you fellow fur friends.

Help me Support a Cause

I'm going to Bali. I'm pretty sure by now y'all know about it (I awarded myself with bragging rights). But besides getting all tan (which I don't need, I'm naturally tanned) and massaged up, I'm there to support a dear Animal Welfare Organization that captured my heart a couple of months ago.

You see, I like volunteering/missionary. A personal goal of mine is to do a volunteering time at least once a year... especially during a vacation time. So while I was planning my Asian vacation (haha, asian vacation), I browsed around for some organizations to volunteer with. I had set on one for children until I found out about BAWA Bali. BAWA stands for Bali Animal Welfare Association. BAWA focuses on the welfare of the majority street dogs (and cats) in Bali and to help control its overpopulation by providing spaying/neutering and also to educate the locals on the importants of it. Not only that, you may NOT know (I found out a little later) that are a lot of RW cafes in Bali (RW means Dog). Get it, Dog Cafe... where they serve dog meat. Yes, people, dog meat *vomits a little*. BAWA is also on the go on catching all these evil human predators on stealing and poisoning not only street dogs but also people's pet to be sold at these sickly RW cafes.

I can never picture a restaurant selling dog meat. That's just plain wrong.

BAWA has a full clinic, even a 24 hour ambulance and also a mobile sterilization clinic. I'm so impressed. Since Bali has a lot of street dogs that pretty much live out on their own, they have a program where they go out daily to the areas where these dogs live and feed them and give them drinking water... I give them super props for this. Instead of leaving them hungry and suffering in the streets because they can't contained/shelter them, they BRING the comfort to them in their own little doggy environment. Awesome.

I'm a monthly donator for BAWA and I'm happy doing it, knowing that my little funds are helping Bali Dogs in need.

I will be departing to Bali in September. I have a goal. I'm going to bring an extra suitcase filled with doggy goodies. They have a monthly wishlist and I'm planning to bring ANY DONATION that I can with me to fit in that extra suitcase. It can be from dog foods to blankets to pet beds to collars & leashes. If you have any extra and don't mind of donating, PLEASE fill free to mail it to me.

You can also donate to them anytime you want.

I'm not good in fundraising but I guess I can give it a try. Y'all know I love to bake. I'm thinking on selling some baked goods with all of the proceeds going to BAWA. If you show proof of donation to me (min $10), you will get an order of a Cupcake in a Jar or Cookies in Jar mailed to you!

Let me know if any of you are interested. It will make me happy. It will make BAWA happy. It will make the Dogs of Bali happy. It will make this little man happy too.

email me at bolubyrima@gmail.com if you are interested.

thanks!

Chimmy's Corner

Chimmy had to share one more thing before next week. Watch the video above about darling Tessa. Chimmy & I are excited that she was saved by the Bill Foundation.

Sick dogs deserve a second chance in life. I'm glad Tessa did.

Chimmy's Corner

Chimmy here wants to say "HAAAAYYYYYYYY" to all you sexy ladies out there.

He's greeting you by showing his ass and lifting his leg to pee.

Look at that ass.

So a friend of mine shared this following picture on facebook and I agree with ALL of its statement.
via
Who needs a man when you have a dog? ... uh, I do have a man, though.

Btw, did you see the Budweiser Ad about the horse? BEST AD EVER. I still cry watching it.

This cute beagle is being shamed on by his owner, and it is indeed hilarious.

Below is a memorial video for a really sweet pitbull, Molly. She passed away on Feb 1st 2013. She was assumed used as bait for dog fights. I seriously don't understand why people do that. All this little girl wanted was to love and to be loved and she did received all the love she wants til the end, both from humans and dogs. RIP Molly.

And meet Mr Chris P Bacon. Little man here was born without his two back legs and his human owner created a wheelchair for him. HE IS SUPER ADORBSSSS. I want to hug him!

Any animal stories you want to share?

Doggy kisses,
Rima

Chimmy's Corner

I'm pretty sure most of you know what the 10 Commandments are from the Bible.

Then I came upon the 10 Dog Commandments. And it's beautiful.

Source
I agree with all 10.

Please read this before you mistreat a dog. Please.

This video below is from The Wildlife Aid Foundation. This poor baby fox cub got his little face stucked in to a rusty can. Seriously people, THROW YOUR TRASH AWAY AND RECYCLE! These people saved him and released him back to his home.

Now, meet Philly. This super cute Brown Pit Bull was hit by a car and was in the sidewalk for 5 hours and was IGNORED by people walking by. Then 3 LAPD officers saw him and decided to rescue him. Apparently, he's chipped and they contacted the owner. The owner said that they can't afford him anymore and told them to put him down.

*mad rima* SHAME ON YOU STUPID OWNER.

The 3 fabulous (literally they are) LAPD girls took him the the Vet ER and he had broken bones, had plastic bottles and weird stuff in his stomach and has a cast now. Poor little man.

via Rescuing Philly

Look at that sweet face. He now has 3 awesome Cop mommies and they are raising funds for his treatment. I hope he gets well soon. Gah. Love his face.

Do you want to share any animal/pet related stories? Stories of your own? Feel free to email me at bolubyrima@gmail.com :)

Chimmy's Corner

Have you hug your pet today?

This Stinky Butt below is the first one to greet me every time I arrive home. Once I open my door, either he greets me by barking maniacally OR we do this staring contest if he's sitting on the top of the stairs looking down on me. Once I start moving, his tails wag like crazy. Silly butt.

He was torn between 3 bones. Crazy. He ate up the left one though.
So on behalf of Chimmy being cute and sassy, I'm going to share tonight some cute and sassy dogs as well.

Meet Mishka. She's an adorable Siberian Husky who's been trained very well by her owner on talking. ADORABLE.

Then, these two cute Labradors (I think) interrupted a Turkish Soccer match by running in to the fields. I want to take them home!

Meet Gaytor. This future opera singer did a duet via Skype with another dog. Awesome.

And meet the BEST CORGI ever. Who does a dance when being fed? Gosh I want to hug this dog!

So does your pet do funny/cute stuff? Please do share!

If you want to participate in Chimmy's Corner, please contact me!

Chimmy's Corner

I had a epiphany.

Every Friday night, after work, I like to relax in my bed and browse around the webs watching videos about dogs/animal rescues. I like to watch videos like these because they some what in a way lift my spirit up and think about how awesome God is. That there are still humane people out there.

Also, since I personally experienced a dog (or two) rescue of my own (you can read about them herehere and here), I somehow developed this increase passion on spreading the word on adopting from rescues or shelters, spay & neuter your pets, and saving animals when the opportunity comes (with of course, precautions: Your Safety Comes First!).

So I came up with a new segment that I'm going to start, starting tonight, in honor of my dog, Chimmy, called Chimmy's Corner. I will be sharing videos, sites or articles regarding pets/dogs/cats/other animals... It can be about awareness, charity, fundraising, animal foundations, etc. It can also be stories about pet(s) from cute to funny, even sad ones, or even cherishing a memory of a pet. Or maybe even about animal products such as toys, foods, attire, etc. Even recipesAnything Animal/Pet related!

I will also feature any bloggers that are interested in talking about their own pet(s) or any animal/pet related posts they want to share :) If interested please don't hesitate to email me at bolubyrima@gmail.com!

So for tonight, I would like to share a story about Buck.

via Buck called Buck needs Bucks for his Buckshot Injuries

Buck is a dog that was shot (well he had shot burns) to his face and was put in a garbage bag and was tied on to a pole to die slowly. HOW FREAKING CRUEL IS THAT? When a person found him, they called this amazing woman, Tami Augustyn, who proclaims herself as a independent animal rescuer (God bless her BIG heart), and she took this poor dog to an emergency Vet.

Buck was hypothermic, anemic, dehydrated and scared. He collapsed after he walked a couple of feet after he was removed from the garbage bag. I teared up like mad when I watched the video.

To watch the video, click here. I believe that the Year on the video is wrong, because the incident happened this year.
To read a Yahoo article about Buck, click here

Tami started a fundraise facebook page for Buck called Buck needs Bucks for his Buckshot Injuries where people can donate to cover Buck's medical expenses.

I highly recommend checking out the facebook page, and I urge to donate to save this dog.

I just can't imagine how people can be sooooo cruel. SOOOO cruel. Dogs love unconditionally. They are there for you during happy times, they are there for you during sad times. They may not talk back to you, but they are there to listen to you and smother you with kisses, knowing that everything will be fine.

According to Buck's facebook page, he had his optho surgery and is recovering now. I'm keeping him in my prayers. Speedy Recovery, Buck!

Chimmy's Kisses,
Rima

Safe and Sound

When I saved Jack & Jill (that's what my brother and I named the duo) last night, this song immediately popped up when I had them in my arms.

I'm still crying. I'm not lying.

But now I know they are safe and sound in the Shelter. I'm praying really hard that they are okay and will be ADOPTED TOGETHER soon.

This is the link for Jill and for Jack.

Please spread the word. These two lovable dogs are just precious. Even my brother was sad.

I'll always remember them jumping up and down whenever they see me.

I don't know why God let this happened to me. I know it's for the dogs good, but I'm just still so sad and having the blues remembering them. I know He is giving me a sign.

A good man takes care of his animals, but wicked men are cruel to theirs. Proverbs 12:10.

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Rima came with her mobil to save them from such danger.

If anyone can provide a forever home for them, you will be a hero in my heart and theirs. They are currently in Rancho Cucamonga Animal Shelter.

- Rima

Who said Saying Goodbye is Easy?

Sadly, after a long debate, I dropped off the two dogs I found last night at the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Shelter. They were not chipped.

We wanted to keep them for a couple of days to find a home for them, but sadly I was allergic to them.

I really did not want to take them to the shelter, but I have no choice. I don't the time to find around for homes.

Thanks for all of my friends for spreading the word.

I cried after seeing them being taken away for the exam. But I know they are in a better place than the streets where I found them last night.

I really do hope they find a good forever home.

Who said saying goodbye is easy?

Jack & Jill (that's why Otin & I named them), even though you came into my life for 1 night, you made a big impact to me. You both are forever in my sappy little heart.

Please, if you have pets, take care of them. Do not ignore them. They need your love and attention.

Today, my heart breaks but smiles at the same time.

Rima

It's Kinda of a Rescue Story...

If you know me, I'm a huge dog lover. Ever since I was a little girl, back in Indonesia, I've always wanted a dog, but I can't. My mom was too scared, even to the little Chihuahuas. And on top of that, being a Moslem country, dogs are considered "dirty" animals, so you can believe how poor is the animal rights over there (that was yeaaaarrsss ago... I don't know about now).

Anyways, I've been a huge fan of Hope For Paws ever since I watch several of their rescue videos. Thank God for Eldad Hagar. In a way, I used his method to bribe the dogs.

So I was just exiting my parking lot at work and was waiting on the traffic light... and I saw these 2 dogs, drinking from the puddle of water in front of my car (to the side of it, to be precise), super thirsty and started running away because the car next to me had to turn right. I started going, "OMGOMGOMG don't GO THERE!" and hoped they moved to the pavement. Thank God they did. So I pulled over and tried to call them. Of course they started to go crazy and ran away. I was so sad. Then I parked my car and thankfully they kinda followed my car.

Eldad has his own method to get the attention of dogs. He bribes them with Cheeseburger and once he gains their trust, then he puts them on his leash and carries them in to safety.

I tried to recreate his method... But 1) I don't have any cheeseburger; 2) I don't have a leash :(

All I had was a pack of Filipino Skyflakes Saltine Crackers. Yes, Crackers.

But it worked. Took me 30 minutes to convinced the younger dog since she had trust issues (her tail was tucked in). The older one, the male, was easier as he was super interested with the crackers. As soon as he was super close, I grabbed him, cuddled and put him inside my car. It was so hard to get the girl in the car. I had to block the boy so he won't get out while trying to convinced the girl to get in. She was terrified with the car but I kept on doing positive reinforcement and she finally hopped in. I said a little prayer.

This is the boy
Immediate cuddle time in my warm car
Right when I got home, I fed them 3 CANS of dog food. All gone within minutes. They gulped down water like never before. I got layers of blankets and old carpets and lay them on my garage floor and the boy started to roll around and wanted his belly to be rubbed. I got some old toys of Chimmy's and played catch with them.

Unfortunately, I can not keep them. I live in a small condo, with carpets, and a dog name Chimichanga who thinks this place is his shrine. I wanted to introduce him to them, and I even had him on a leash. But the 2 dogs started to run and hide and growl and Chimmy, being the i-am-super-brave-but-i-am-actually-a-chicken, got scared and ran for safety. Fail. Plus, I don't like keeping dogs outside. Esp during cold season. Even leaving them in the garage (which gets cold in the morning) breaks my heart. I would keep them in my room, but I haven't bathe them nor know their history.

Fortunately, I just found a No-Kill Shelter in Ontario called West End Shelter. They don't believe in Euthanize for Population and they don't turn away any pets. Matter of fact, when I drop these two precious, I want to fill out their Volunteer Application. I think I've found my shelter! YAY! Another 12 Things crossing off my list.

I pray these two lovlies will find their forever home. They don't bark, super chill, very friendly (once they trust you), loves to jump on you and give MAJOR kisses.

I hope the shelter will give me updates on these two dogs.

I'll keep all of you posted.

Two doggy kisses,
Rima
