10 Things I Want To Do Before I Die

I read this article with the same title one day, and it prompted me to make my own list. Of course I have my own bucket list. This is more like a travel bucket list. I think everyone should have one, huh?
(in no particular order)

1. Witness the Northern Lights
source
I think the moment I see this in person, I would literally burst into tears. Being a huge fan of night skies with stars and lights, this amazing nature phenomena will definitely give me the chills (well, literally. It's cold up there in the northern hemisphere). Iceland or Finland would be the ideal goal for me, even though you can see it in Alaska, Alberta in Canada, even in Norway.

2. Drink crazy amount of beer in Munich during Oktoberfest
This is the Pillow in Munich for this years Oktoberfest. Pretty much robbing my dream. Him and his coworkers decided to do a last minute trip prior to my arrival to Switzerland. Good job on making me jealous. Anyways, as of next year, this will be an annual trip, apparently. And yes, I will be there.

3. Jump off a cliff into the Ocean
source
I cliff jumped before and it was thrilling. But that was in the mountains. I want to jump in to the ocean. Where else than in Santorini, Greece.

4. Ride a Camel in the Desert
Again, Rob stole my dream. This was in Morocco. I want it to happen there or even better in Egypt while seeing the Pyramids.

5. Watch a Champions League final game in Wembley Stadium
source
This is actually, of course, a goal for both of us. Would love to see our favorite team(s) to play, but nevertheless, watching a final game at one of the biggest & famous stadiums out there would be such an honor.

6. Swim with wild Dolphins in the Ocean
source
Yes, I did played with a dolphin while I was in Bali and it was cute and fun. But what I really want is go on a boat and actually find a pod and actually see them swimming in person. Even better... to swim with them. And apparently you can do that in Oahu, Hawaii.

7. Milk a cow and make cheese somewhere in Switzerland
source
I really do hope this will happen later on when I reside in Switzerland. Driving around Switzerland with Rob, I've seen green grass hills with happy cows just chillin'. Luckily, there are some farms that you can volunteer at. This should be fun.

8. Road trip USA or driving up the Pacific Coast Highway
source
With USA having so much land, who doesn't want to go on a good ol' road trip? Pack up my bags, fill up the tank and let's go. Or if going to all 50 States is a bit too much, driving up the PCH, from Cali to Washington would be a great alternative.

9. Light one in Amsterdam
source
By "one", I mean a joint. It's one of those silly ones that is not a big deal if it never happen. Mind you, I am anti-illegal-drug. Since Ms. Mary Jane is very controversial, you may want to see it as an illegal substance or as life changing drug, I don't care, I'm not here to judge. I have never lit one, but this is one of those weird goals where if it was to happen, I want it to be in a cool place (sorry, Colorado & Washington ain't one of them in my list).

10. Volunteer at the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand
source
Ah, elephants. They make me happy. Ever since bathing and riding one in Thailand, my heart grew so much love for these giant yet funny creatures. My dream is to actually do this one day with my future kids. Elephants are great examples on how animals do have feelings & emotions, just like human beings.

So these are the things that are on my list.

What are yours?

Weekly Wishes

The Nectar Collective

Man, it's been awhile since I blog like back to back. I'm on a weird blog-mood. The desire to blog has been decreasing (ain't denying here), I don't have anything else to blame but me. I've been to busy working and working (and baking) and getting sick that I just usually just stroll down my Bloglovin' and just read any blog that suits the mood. I don't know. Hopefully one day soon it the blogging kick will kick me in the ass and get going.

I haven't linked up in awhile. Of course we are all fans of Melyssa and her fabulous Monja (I want to kiss him), so as I did my daily scrolling down Bloglovin', I decided to click to her Weekly Wishes and decide to participate. As a big List fan, I want to make a list of wishes for the upcoming weeks ahead. Why? Because fun things are about to happen!

Last Week Wishes
Honestly I don't have none since this is the first installment of hopefully many. But I can create one. Haha. Last week Rob & I needed to do something important this weekend but it didn't happen because we were to busy watching the games of World Cup (who was upset with that last minute goal from Cristiano Ronaldo on that USA game? #sad). So our goal to check out our storage and go thru our stuffs didn't happen. Instead we just enjoy our football and spent great quality time, eating good food, and just literally enjoying each others company. Since we live so far from each other and only see each other on the weekends, QT is nice. Especially when we're gonna be... wait, I have to share that news later... when I get back from Brazil... Tee hee *insert suspense here*

This Week's Wishes
Just to get thru work and pack for my World Cup pilgrimage next week! Can not believe that we're leaving from Brazil next week! My coworkers were like, "Are you back from Brazil already?" And I'm like, "Uh I leave next week?"Also, getting my errands done this Wednesday AND bake some scones for my coworkers. I only have 2 days off before I leave so I must hustle. Since I still have my lingering Bronchitis, I need to pound them Airborne. I can't be sick for Brazil! NO!

Link Up with Melyssa and share your wishes! Woo.

Rima

12 Things

See that above? I made that *proud*. 5 hours of dedication, sweat, stove heat and a painful foot (I have plantar faciitis), this bitchin French Beef Stew was made (recipe: here)

Making Beef Bourguignon (try saying that 10 times) in my Le Creuset is part of my 12 Things of 2014. Well, half of a goal. Next one will be Coq Au Vin.

FYI, I used a whole bottle of good Pinot Noir for this stew. My whole house smelled like red red wine. Yum.

Also, baking school is pretty fun. Last week was cake cake cake week and the cake I made was gone in 2 days. A whole cake, I tell you.

I am enjoying school so much that I'm getting pretty sentimental that it's ending in 1 month :( I made some great friends there and my 2 teachers are super awesome. I am really contemplating on taking the full Advanced Pastry Program, which is a MonWedFri class for 6 months. Oh decisions... decisions... But I think I'm going to do ProBaking 2 next :) So this is still a 1/2 of a goal in 12 Things. Haha.

Wait. 1/2 + 1/2 = 1. Yes. 1 goal completed! *forcing it*

More goals to accomplish!
Now now, do you have any 2014 goals to do?
Do it! You have all day. All Day.

xoxo,
Rima

12 Things

Hello Bunz. Today while laying in bed, I decide on this beautiful hump day to reflect on my 12 goals of 2013.
  1. Attend a Baking/Bread Class.
  2. 30 days Work-Out trial.
  3. Volunteer at an Animal Shelter
  4. Watch a live soccer game
  5. Try a new crafty skill
  6. Attend a Bucket List Concert: Bon Jovi, U2, Coldplay (can't get enough of them!), Celine Dion, Jay-Z
  7. The Color Run in Los Angeles
  8. Make/Bake a Pie
  9. Take more pictures with my film cameras and create an album
  10. Swim with the Dolphins
  11. Dare Devil: Go Bungee Jumping
  12. Take a picture with Ariel, the Little Mermaid
Not familiar with 12 Things? You can read about it hereFor my last Revisit: 12 Things, click here2012 12 Things: hereFor my Bucket List: here

8 out of 12. I can say that I am pretty happy to be able to accomplish 8! That's 75% of the list :) Yay. *pats back* Awesome.

So it's already mid January of 2014. Yes, I do have goals in mind but have yet written it down. Now it's time.

12 Things of 2014

Complete ProBaking 1 & 2 at The New School of Cooking
I start school tomorrow and could not be excited. A new chapter!
Enjoy Coachella 2014 with my friends & brother & The PillowMan
Tickets have been purchased and the only thing that we're working on is a place to stay. Prices are ridiculously high, even if we split the cost. We are hoping for a miracle hahahaha...
Travel abroad to somewhere new
I think this will be like an annual goal. Who doesn't want to cross out a new place to visit each year? This year I will be going to Brazil (PillowMan was there last year) so I couldn't be more excited! Not only that, we will be joining the world for the World Cup. It's going to be insane!
Lower my debt by half or more
Now this is a work-in-process. I am dying to be debt free. Who doesn't? I wish I can win the lottery and BAM erase every single debt I have. Grrr.
Do another 5K
I love doing 5Ks because for me it's doable. Hahaha... The Color Run is coming up so I am thinking on signing up again... and maybe some other ones too. They are getting creative now!
Ride a Hot Air Balloon
I've never been on one so this was added to the list. We have a winery town not too far from our area where they do Hot Air Balloon festivals (in Temecula). There are deals all the time on Zozi.com or GroupOn that gives out deals for balloon rides and wine tasting at the same time. I might need that buzz for that height!
Celebrate my 30th Birthday
Oh yes. The big 3-0. It's coming in April. Coachella is one of the ways of celebration but I also want to celebrate with my family and close friends. Don't know how or where, but we will see went it comes by.
Plan a weekend getaway with my Family (Chimichanga included)
Well, this was supposed to be in December (vegas!) but my mom got severely ill at the last minute, so the trip had to be postponed. The thing is we don't know when. Haha. It will happen.
No Social Media Sabbath/Saturday
I started this last Saturday (Sabbath = Friday Sunset to Saturday Sunset) and it was nice. I tried to stay off of my computer/phone/iPad as much as I can during the time, well with the exception of phone calls/texts. I seriously got so much tasks done, it was fabulous. With our daily lives so occupied with the cyberworld, we kinda lost touch with our real world. There are so many things beyond the internet. It's time to back to the real world.
Own a Le Creuset Dutch Oven & Make Boeuf Bourguignon & Coq Au Vin
I've been dying to own one. And 2014 will be the year to own one! Hah! And I will cook my first meal with it with a classic (or two) French meal. Yum.
Hang out with Kiki Peter because I miss her dearly (which means... Paris!)
Kiki Peter is one of my best friends back in High School. She understand me and I understand her. I miss her so much. Only got to see her for several hours while I was in Paris. She lives in Paris so I have a reason to visit Paris. Which means, I need to find a cheap flight to Paris.
Make my own Cheese
I love cheese. I can't deny it. I remember seeing a DIY kit at William-Sonoma and I heard on how easy it is to make! I purchased my kit and now I just need to find a local farm where I can get fresh milk :)

Well that's all of my 12 goals this year! Let's kick 2014 in the ass and make these things happen :)

xoxo,
Rima

I just realized... I skip November for 12 Things. Hahahahahhaha *evil grind*. Oh well, Life happens, eh?
As I look in to my list, I can say that I am pretty proud. I crossed out number 5!!! I indeed tried a new crafty skill...

Lo and behold... Rima is carving her own stamps!

I had so much fun doing this, it was kinda therapeutic! I lost track of time to the point I realized I had a headache. I'm already browsing for new carving tools and some blocks to carve.

So I did 8 out of 12. Not bad at all. I feel kinda great accomplishing more than 50% of the list. Woo hoo.

Did you accomplished anything on your list?

Like yeah, it's already July. I don't like it. Well I actually do. Months closer to my upcoming vacation. But anyways, waaaah to fast this year has past. 2013 just flashed across my nose.

Unfortunately, I haven't accomplished anything on this list. One awesome thing is that #6 will happen in the end of July. Home girl here will be going to that Justin Timberlake & Jay Z concert. Aw yeah.

I'm aiming on doing #8 this month, since I don't know... July to me links to pie. July Pie. See it rhymes.

And like #9 needs to get going. I have a butt load of rolls that need to get developed. I'm just lazy to drop it off.

Any of you have goals to accomplish this year?

Revisit: 12 Things

Seriously... This year went by like a jiffy (wtf is jiffy anyways?)... Well, it's time for a recap on 12 Things...

Not familiar with 12 Things? You can read about it here :)

For my last Revisit: 12 Things, click here.
2012 12 Things: here
For my Bucket List: here

As a reminder... Here are the things I want to accomplish in 2013.
  1. Attend a Baking/Bread Class.
  2. 30 days Work-Out trial.

  4. Watch a live soccer game
  5. Try a new crafty skill
  6. Attend a Bucket List Concert: Bon Jovi, U2, Coldplay (can't get enough of them!), Celine Dion, Jay-Z (*this is an add on*)
  7. The Color Run in Los Angeles
  8. Make/Bake a Pie
  9. Take more pictures with my film cameras and create an album
  10. Swim with the Dolphins
  11. Medical Missionary
  12. Take a picture with Ariel, the Little Mermaid
Well, you may notice, that 2 red words were crossed. Yup yup! I got to see Bon Jovi in Concert 2 weekends ago at the Staples... It was sooo fun. He did most of his classics and I literally screamed when he sang "I'll Be There for You"... ya know, me jam with the Pillow for 2013. Plus, I wanted to cry when he sang "Always".

Yes we make silly faces. I give major props to Mr. Jon Bon Jovi. No opening band, he SANG and DANCED for 3 hours straight, including 2 encores. His energy is wicked. I want what he's eating. If you ever get a chance to see him perform, do it. Too bad R. Sambora wasn't there (heard that homeboy walked away in the middle of the tour. Lame!) but Bon Jovi moved on and their replacement was great! He delivered.

So far goal no. 9 is in progress. I brought my film camera on a couple of occasions and its first roll is almost gone. Can't wait to develop it.

Nice. I got 4 out of 12 already. It's like a goal a month. Now I just gotta find where to swim with dolphins... Gotta make time to learn how to bake a pie. I need to wait in line patiently in Disneyland at the Princess area to get a picture with Ariel (anyone wanna go with me?)... Get my lazy-ass moving and do a 30 day challenge... wawawa...

Are you doing 12 Things? Please share your goals/accomplishments with me via comments below! I would love to read about them! Spread the word :)

Now if you compare this post with the last one, you may noticed that I crossed off 2 more things. Woo hoo. That is number 1 & 4. Both were accomplished during my Vacation. Number 1 happened in Paris and Number 4 happened in Barcelona (watched 2 games!)

Game number 1

Game number 2

making some Pain au Chocolat
Now number 3 will happen in September (while I'm in Bali!) and I really want to start on number 9. I think when Melissa is here, I'm gonna bring my Canon AE-1 to Disneyland. I may cause damage to the film hahaha... It's been that long for me to use a film camera.

Oh and number 6 will happened on 4/19! Bon Jovi, baby :)

Things I Love Monday: March & April Goals

And woopah. Double slam. Time is money and I gotz things to do! Haha... I'm so weird.

Today I treat you with 2 entries in 1 post. Yes, TiLM and April Goals.

But I'm gonna start with Goals. Let's recap March, shall we?

1. Enjoy my vacation - If I can, I would give this 5 points alone. I really did enjoy my vacation. I swear the pictures are coming! Point: 1
2. Make Croissants - and YES it was soooo much fun! I did this via Cookn' with Class in Montmarte with a couple from New York, a girl from Canada and a girl who's originally from South Africa who's staying in Paris. I really recommend this class. Not only it was fun and interesting, I learned a lot (I rather buy it from a bakery than baking it, lol), we get to take home what we baked. So I pretty much had croissants for 3 breakfasts! Here's a little sneak peak... Point: 1

3. Read a Novel - well this didn't happen despite my co-worker lend me her Silver linings Playbook novel. I ended up watching it on the plan (hey I was so happy!) Point: 0

So I made 2 out of 3.

Ah, March was fun. Now for April...
1. Enjoy my birth month - This year would be my last year as a 20-something. Last year before Dirty Thirty. Last year to fuck up things in my 20s (it's not like I'm playing to, har di har har...). So far I got some fun plans ahead for April: I have the Ellen Show tomorrow (!!!) with guaranteed tickets! Then, Melissa from Insert Sarcastic Remark Here is COMING TO CALI CALI!!! We plan for some dinner and Disney dates next week. Awesomely she is staying like 5 minutes away from mi casa. Woo!!! Then on the 19th, the Pillow and I are gonna watch a bucket list concert, Bon Jovi! So excited!!!
2. Be a local tourist - So I've been reading a lot about traveling. And one thing that popped out was that you don't have to travel too far to enjoy a city. Why not be a tourist in your own hometown? And I thought, "You know what? That's right!" I'm fortunate enough to live within driving distance to Los Angeles and Orange County... Yet, I hardly roam around the touristy spots. I mean I did before, but why not do it again? Or try out some local eateries around the area... I haven't been to Pasadena in a loonnggg time... and shamefully for me, Pasadena is not too far and IS a BEAUTIFUL area. (random fact: I was born in Pasadena). I told the Pillow that we should be local tourists after the Bon Jovi concert. Maybe plan to spend the weekend in LA and just roam around and find great places to eat. Hmm...
3. Chew my food - Pretty random but it's the concept I want to do. Often, I eat in a hurry... I eat standing up in kitchen, I eat in the car, I eat in front of TV/Laptop/iPhone/iPad... Pretty much in on the go... Which is not a good thing. I learned in Europe, not only the portion is smaller compare to Americans, they take their time when eating. I don't see them eating while walking... Nor eating with their phones in front of their faces. Heck, I don't even see them walking around with their lattes in their hand... They actually SIT DOWN and ENJOY THEIR LATTES. They actually ENJOY their meals. When I arrived in Paris and had our first meal in the Latin Quarter, it was a 3 course meal with bread as a meal opener. Then the waiter gave us our appetizer and I was like, "dank this is small..." and ate and enjoyed the food. I noticed he waited for about 5 minutes to take our plates after we BOTH finished the appetizers. Then, another 5 minutes to deliver our entry. When I saw the portion of the entry, I thought, "Seriously, will I get full out of this?!??!" knowing how much smaller the portion is compare to America. Then, homeboy didn't pick up our plates until 5 minutes after we were down with our entry... Then, of course, 5 minutes later our dessert came... By that time I was getting full. I was surprised. I told the Pillz "I'm so full right now!" And so was he (mind you, the Pillz has a big appetite). We were stunned on how full we got with much smaller portions. It was like that the whole trip. Then we realized it's because we took time, chewing and enjoying our food without overstuffing our mouths, making us get full so quickly. Thus because of that, I hardly snack during the trip (i'm a HUGE snacker) ... Well because the body has all the nutrients & energy it needs just by simply digesting the food right aka chewing. I need to get on it.
4. Make another dish from Rachel Khoo's book - Yes I'm still obsessed. I've made 2 so far and both are desserts. I really want to make a savory dish.
5. Watch Downtown Abbey - I'm learning to love British Dramas. I love BBC's Pride & Prejudice (Hello, Colin Firth) and I just got caught up with Call the Midwife last night (killed the first season over the weekend) and I looovveeee it. Seriously, all I did was made cups of Earl Grey with Milk and made toasts and enjoy them while watching the show (did I chew? Yes I did!) Now I need to start on Downtown Abbey. Next thing you know, I want to have a British Accent.

As for Things I Love Monday... Pretty much the whole month of March was about my Euro Trip. The trip was amazing. Getting to see and experience 2 different cultures (both were somewhat similar in some ways) was great. Barcelona was amazing with its Football culture and amazing Cathedrals and old buildings, and of course Paellas & Sangrias. Paris was so magical and great with its many iconic landmarks, desserts & just the overall romantic ambiance.

I  recovered from the jetlag but definitely not the travel-bug. This trip for sure gave me the Travel Itch. I'm already looking up places and plane ticket prices for my upcoming Bali trip in September. With the Pillow traveling a lot to places (even though it's for work... He's leaving to Brazil this weekend and possible Japan at the end of the month), I definitely want travel more and build up those milages! Haha.

I am gonna get on that picture posts. Hang on :)

March Goals

Well well. Month 3 of 2013 is here and I can't be more excited than this. Que? My trip is around the corner!!! Aww yeah...

Well time to link up with my gurl, Melissa from Insert Sarcastic Remark Here, but first, let's recap my successful list of February.

And let me tell you, all 5 goals FAILED. Esp number 3. I've been sleeping at midnight EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. I did juice, once. I did Fab Ab Feb for 7 days. I did make Macarons (does that count as Sugar Cookies?) and I did some of my Cross Stitch. Super fail. I'll just give myself 1 point.

Moving on, let's go March!

  • Enjoy my vacation: Yes I'm leaving in 6 days!
  • Make Croissants: Will be doing this in France
  • Finish a Novel: My friend loaned me her Silver Linings Playbook that she finished in 1 day! I haven't read as exciting as Hunger Games (I finished it in 8 hours) so I'm pretty stoked.
Yes, just 3. I'm trying to keep it simple.

Gah. What are your goals?

So... As of now, I have accomplished number 7! The Color Run was done earlier this month and it was Fabulous!! So much fun!!!

I'm excited for March because 2 goals will be crossed off... #1 & # 4!!! I can't wait!!! Still in process is #3 (I still to attend Orientation for Rancho Animal Shelter; Also Bill Foundation accepted me as their volunteer!), #5 (my cross stitch & drawing is in progress), and #6 (Bon Jovi in April AND JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE & JAY Z IN JULY!!!!).

Now let's talk about #11: Medical Missionary. It's gonna get a little tweaked. It's gonna happen in September (!!!!) BUT it won't be a Medical Missionary. More like a volunteer... Volunteer abroad I may say. And what's making me soooo pump up about it is that I'll be visiting Motherland aka Indonesia. To be more specific: I will be Volunteering in Bali. Yes Bali. The Bali where Mish was in not too long ago! I've always wanted to go back (it's been 11.5 years since I moved back to the US) and I've always wanted to volunteer/mission back in Indonesia. Then when a group called Volunteer in Bali followed me on Twitter (i believe I tweeted about a patient wearing a Hard Rock Bali shirt) and I looked them up. I was soooooo excited. I can not wait to pay for the trip (I signed up already stating that I'm super interested) and book my damn plane ticket!

Sooo go ahead and link up with me!!! If you're new to 12 Things and want to join, Go Ahead! Spread the word!!!
